In joining our team, you will be a key part of this growth.The Role*** Please note that we do not accept multiple applications and you should only select and apply to one programme per year***Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree ApprenticeshipClosing Date: 30th September 2024The start date for the UK Apprenticeship Programme will be September 2025.Our team is looking for an apprentice who can demonstrate the ability to learn about the technology and software solutions marketed and developed by WTW and their application in the Life insurance industry. Over time, you will become a subject expert in these solutions, working as part of a technical development team in collaboration with our actuaries to design, implement and manage how we deploy our technology and software solutions. We are seeking an apprentice who is keen to learn about these technology solutions, how they can be best deployed, how to design processes and systems around them and in all implementation matters. We will support you throughout your apprenticeship to develop and refine these skills.You will be working in a development team focussed on delivering automation solutions to WTW clients which consists of a product owner, and four software developers (one of which successfully completed the L6 DTS apprenticeship with WTW). You will be part of a small local apprentice team but also included in a wider growing group of apprentices in other offices and disciplines and you will be supported by these colleagues during your apprenticeship. Your manager and assigned mentor will be on hand at all times to fully guide you through your programme – making adjustments as necessary to ensure you achieve your full potential.The successful candidate will be able to work independently using their own initiative and would enjoy being part of a bigger team in Manchester. We will support you and your ability to take on challenges, solve problems and a willingness to learn new skills as our business grows is a key requirement. As a prerequisite you would be expected to have demonstrated some self-learning and proactive interest in the technology space, for example through gaining knowledge of at least one programming language.The role includes developing skills and knowledge (over a number of years) to achieve the following:

  • Become an expert in WTW’s software suite and how it can be deployed to meet business requirements. In particular, focussing on advanced applications of the software, leveraging your technical skills to drive efficiencies in how we deliver services to our clients.
  • Designing and building our bespoke software application using C#, Angular and SQL Server.
  • Working in an Agile team using Azure DevOps and industry standard software development practices.
  • Act as a technical specialist for the team, working on various scripts used in implementing software solutions (e.g. Python, C#, Powershell).
  • Improve the architecture, deployment and operations practices within the team to introduce and adopt industry standards for many topics including automation, compliance and reporting.

Supporting the gathering of business requirements and translating them into functional design specifications, in an Agile environmentTraining & QualificationsThis Degree Apprenticeship is a 30 month programme where you will be provided on the job training and a highly competitive study support package for you to gain a BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions. You will be fully supported by WTW and our official government approved Training Provider throughout the duration of the programme.Skills & Attributes

  • 3 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications, including Maths, IT or Computing. On track to achieve 104 UCAS points (or equivalent BCC at A-Level) and have achieved GCSE English & maths (grade 9-4/A*-C)
  • Can demonstrate some skills in the technology space, with knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. Python, C#). Candidates may be subjected to a simple technical test
  • The ability to deliver high levels of client service
  • An ability at building effective relationships, at all levels, with clients, prospects, associates, insurers and external specialists
  • Ability to represent the practice and WTW with integrity and credibility
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
