Reporting to the Assistant Director of Professional Service and Quality Assurance-Health, you will provide support to Nurse Practitioners (NPs), including clinical support, practice development and implementation of new regulations. You will have the responsibility for the oversight, monitoring and skills development, based on best clinical practices within the NPs scope of practice. You will work with NPs of all specialties in various clinical sectors (Community Miyupmaatisiun Centre, Hospital Centre, etc.).You will assume a leadership role in advanced practice nursing and ensure the safeguarding of high standards of quality care, including risk management, by creating an environment conducive to the development of clinical excellence. Your clinical duties will include consultation, project management, development of clinical tools and care programs, teaching and research to contribute to the advancement of disciplinary knowledge. Based on your expertise in advanced nursing practice, you will be responsible for supporting strategic thinking, action and decision-making with concrete impacts, particularly on the care and services offered, based on a patient-partner approach and interprofessional collaboration.SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Leadership

  • Participate in the selection and hiring of NPs candidates.
  • Support strategic thinking, action and decision-making that have an impact on the quality of care and services offered by NPs.
  • Participate in the development of the welcome, orientation and integration process for new NPs.
  • Provide leadership in the professional development of NPs to promote compliance with the best practices and innovative practices in the profession.
  • Acts as a role model, coach and professional mentor for nurse practitioners.
  • Promotes the acquisition of knowledge and the development of clinical skills in NPs, enabling them to intervene in complex care situations in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Develop a continuous training program for NPs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of professional practice of NPs working within the organization.
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of new clinical approaches to meet customer needs and ensure high quality standards throughout the care trajectory.
  • Responsible for the development of clinical projects, coordinate their realization, and ensure the results achieved.
  • Act as a change agent and mobilizer for the implementation of new innovative clinical practices.

Clinical expert

  • Acts as a clinical expert for NPs, managers and the organization’s various departments.
  • Assesses and follows up complex clinical situations with clients, and makes recommendations.
  • Provides clinical supervision to NPs during the learning period when new care practises are implemented, to help mobilize knowledge.

Consultation
Acts as a consultant in the following situations:

  • Planning the organization’s NPs workforce and candidate selection process;
  • Revision of practices or clinical management tools (rules of care, interdisciplinary protocols, collective orders, etc.);
  • Problem-solving in complex care situations or ethical conflicts;
  • Adverse events and complaints, and the development of resulting action plans.

Direct client care

  • Intervene as needed in complex health situations with clients and support NPs teams in problem-solving.
  • Acts as moderator or facilitator in the resolution of conflicts of an ethical nature with patients/families, nurses, medical staff and other healthcare professionals.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate in establishing a quality and safety culture in all sectors of the establishment by implementing practices, guidance documents, and programs directly related to the delivery of safe and quality care and services.
  • Collaborates with the various departments to promote the clinical contribution of a NPs within a care trajectory.

Education and experience:

  • Master’s degree in nursing sciences and a Superior study diploma in a specialized practice;
  • Certification in a specialty leading to the Specialized Nurse Practitioner title;
  • Member in good standing with the O.I.I.Q.

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner;
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in a rele

vant job title in a remote community or First Nation, Inuit and Metis communities is an asset.Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the regulations and guidelines for the nurse practitioner practice in Quebec;
  • Knowledge of and experience with public and community health prevention and promotion-related approaches, methods, issues and programming (and in First Nation contexts);
  • Knowledge of Cree culture, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
  • Knowledge of MSSS programs and regulations for first-line services is an asset;
  • Transformational leadership;
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, decision-making skills and management courage;
  • Oriented toward quality and safety of care, optimization, performance and accessibility;
  • Change management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills such as teaching, group facilitation, written and presentation;
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening communication, and teamwork skills;
  • Demonstrate independence, flexibility and empathy;
  • Good planning and organizational skills;
  • Strong interest in developing nursing practice.

LANGUAGE

  • Fluent in English;
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

OTHER

  • Willing to travel in the 9 Cree Communities.
