Job description
The EPS Technology Service Branch requires one (1) self-motivated individual to ensure the provide technical expertise to operate, maintain, support and enhance the telecommunications infrastructure within the Edmonton Police Service. Roles and responsibilities include:
- Daily operation, support and enhancement of EPS telecommunications infrastructure.
- Maintenance of PBX systems, Centrex, voicemail systems, VoIP , audio and video conferencing equipment, voice recording systems and structured wiring systems.
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
- Support and solutions for equipment malfunctions and unusual situations.
- Configure and integrate Ricoh multi-function devices into the EPS network.
- Manage network settings and perform preventive maintenance.
- Liaise with vendors for procurement, installation, maintenance and support.
- Serve as the escalation point for multi-function device issues.
- Support and solutions for equipment malfunctions and unusual situations.
- Set up and configure A/V equipment in meeting rooms.
- Integrate A/V systems with Microsoft Teams Rooms and other virtual meeting platforms.
- Maintain an inventory of all A/V equipment.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Degree in a related discipline and one (1) year of relevant experience OR Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and two (2) years relevant experience OR one (1) year related certificate (Relevant computer certificate programs generally have a minimum of 700+ instructional hours and will include relevant course work to the position. Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED is required) and four (4) years relevant experience.
- Basic knowledge and experience designing, deploying and/or administering video conferencing, Audio/Video systems, Avaya Aura Session Manager, Avaya Aura Messaging, Communication Manager and Session Border Controllers.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of data networks and emerging IP technologies.
- Experience with telco services (analog & digiCentretal centrex lines, IBL, PRI, DSL).
- Experience with voice recording systems and structured cabling installation.
- Knowledge of ITSM and troubleshooting of M365 applications.
- Knowledge and troubleshooting of Audio visual technology (Poly, Teams, Lenovo, Samsung, LG, etc).
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, teamwork, problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Highly self-motivated with the proven ability to work independently to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a mission critical high-pressure environment.
- Able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 35 kilograms.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required. Must have or qualify for a City of Edmonton driving permit OR Must be willing to provide own vehicle and obtain and provide proof of business related public liability and damage issuance of a least $1,000,000. The Edmonton Police Service does provide mileage compensation.
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, 0800 – 1600 hours Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program. Incumbents must be available for call-out outside of these hours on a rotational basis.Salary Range:
21M, Salary Grade: 044, $46.14 – $58.15 (Hourly), $3,115.10 – $3,925.50 (Biweekly), $81,303.00 – $102,454.57 (Annually).
