This post is for 37 hours, and the ideal hours of work will between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday. The start and finish times per day are negotiable however there must be cover for each weekday.This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy Outpatient Central Booking team within NHS Borders. The successfully candidate will be part of a team responsible for ensuring booking patients from the Outpatient Waiting List is carried out in line within Waiting Times policies and procedures.Candidates require excellent communication skills and attention to detail. You will need to be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and have a flexible approach within the workplace. This role will be fully office based, and full training will be given to the successful candidate.Some difficult conversations will be required as a result of longer patient waits as we continue through the COVID-19 pandemic therefore the successful candidate must be able to act with a high degree of empathy and integrity whilst ensuring that patients are kept informed of their progress at all times.Full training will be given however candidates will be expected to have a high level of accuracy when typing and a great attention to detail. Management of staff within a fast paced booking/contact centre environment is advantageous.For further information, please contact Morag Cunningham, Outpatient Waiting Co-ordinator on morag.cunningham@nhs.scot***PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept late applications so please ensure your application is submitted early***NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
