Interview date: 14th January 2025Our Assistant Care Managers have a really supportive working environment and inductions are well planned with help from across the friendly and considerate team. There are approximately 20 members in each of the Adur Community Social Work Teams, with a mixture of qualified and unqualified team members, so whether it’s in person, on the phone or even in the chat group there is always someone on hand to offer help and support.In the Adur community team you will be working across Shoreham and the surrounding areas, including up to the outskirts of Brighton and Hove. As well as assessing you will be completing plans, implementing and monitoring and reviewing care packages. Although the teams are really busy they love that no 2 days are the same and everyone is committed to improving the lives of West Sussex residents.To be successful in this role you will need to use your initiative and demonstrate personal resilience as you could have exposure to challenging behaviours from people who access or need the service. An important part of the role is accurate records of all of the amazing work you have undertaken, and produce reports and correspondence for a variety of audiences including multi disciplinary colleagues, families and people receiving a service.If you are thinking why join West Sussex there is a supportive culture that is second to none. In this role you will need to be in the office at Shoreham for a minimum of 1 or 2 working days and the rest of the week can be worked on a hybrid basis.Experience and SkillsThese will be used as the shortlisting criteria so please cover how you meet each point within your application with examples.Key Skills: * Ability to analyse and interpret information and prioritise needs in order to make recommendations/decisions which will have a positive outcome.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a multi-agency environment to deliver a service to those people who access or need the service.
  • Ability to communicate complicated or sensitive information to a range of audiences to achieve positive outcomes; to be able to communicate clearly with customers reflecting the service objectives and standards.
  • Sound and accurate IT and keyboard skills.
  • Ability to recognise the limits of own accountability and responsibility, and to seek appropriate support, advice and supervision.

Qualifications and/or experience:

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualification or experience operating at this level of literacy and numeracy.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Care. Desirable
  • Experience of providing support/working with people in a Social Care environment.
  • Experience of forming effective working relationships within a multi-agency setting.
  • An awareness of the policies, practices and procedures relevant to Social Work. Experience of the assessment and review process of care packages.
  • Experience of applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures to individual pieces of work.
