This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a transformative approach to security and resilience, safeguarding UCL’s people, reputation, and operations in an ever-changing landscape.About the roleWe are hiring an Assistant Director of Campus Resilience and Security for our site in central London. This is a critical leadership role responsible for safeguarding UCL’s operational resilience and security in an increasingly complex environment. Reporting to the Director of Campus Experience and Commercial Services, this position will lead dynamic business strategies while integrating key functions, including campus security, business continuity planning, crisis management, and digital security systems.This role is pivotal in advancing UCL’s approach to security and operational resilience. It involves leading, overseeing, and integrating security operations, incident management, business continuity and risk mitigation strategies to strengthen the university’s ability to anticipate, respond to, and recover from potential threats.This is an opportunity to take UCL’s security and resilience strategy to the next level. You will drive innovation, implement best practices, and ensure UCL remains safe, operationally secure, and reputationally resilient in a rapidly evolving landscape.   • Ten years of relevant senior leadership experience in security, business continuity, or risk management within large, complex organisations.
  • A proven ability to develop and implement high-level strategies that strengthen operational resilience, security, crisis response and business continuity.
  • Significant experience in major incident management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity planning.
  • A proven track record of successfully leading security teams, business continuity professionals, and industry-standard experts in managing crisis situations and overseeing resilience frameworks at an enterprise level.
  • Strong expertise in strategic and operational risk management, with the ability to anticipate, assess, and mitigate evolving threats.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in fiscal and budget management, ensuring cost-effective security and resilience strategies.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating data analytics, security intelligence, and digital technologies into operational security models.
  • The ability to build, develop, and manage high-performing teams in a fast-changing environment.
  • Strong professional credibility and authority to engage with senior stakeholders, government agencies, and emergency services.
