While the team’s main work will be on development management, the team will also support the Partnership teams in the delivery of their work.As part of this Team, you will take delegated responsibility for the delivery of Historic England’s advice on proposals for change in the historic environment that fall within their area of competence. Applying the ethos of ‘constructive conservation’ and making effective use of Conservation Principles in all their advisory work, you will provide advice to owners and others on the sustainable management of the historic environment. You will contribute, as required, to the work of the Partnership teams, including heritage at risk cases.Please note thatthe role requires regular travel to sites not serviced by public transport. A driving licence is very likely to be required.the role will require visiting/inspecting sites which is likely to require climbing scaffolding and negotiating confined space (e.g. Church roofs, etc.)the role may require occasional attendance at community meetings which are usually held at evenings or weekends.Who we are looking forDemonstrable experience of managing change to historic buildings and areas including through the planning systemA good working knowledge of all periods of secular and ecclesiastical architecture, designed landscapes and the morphology of historic places in England.A general understanding of relevant Government policy, guidance and statutory procedures for the historic environment in the planning system, including LBC and Ecclesiastical ExemptionGood negotiating and influencing skillsA methodical and analytical approach to understanding proposals for change and assessing their impactWe are an equal opportunity employer which values diversity and inclusion.
