About the Role:The Logistics Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Logistics Manager in the day to day operations of the Logistics department, focusing on the successful delivery of all lunches and snacks to clients in a timely and efficient manner; this role specifically is for the PM Shift.Some of the things you’ll get paid to do:Set-Up

  • Lead the delivery team in setting up deliveries and food distribution to delivery vans
  • Assign extra pick-ups and deliveries to drivers
  • Act in a dispatch capacity, including communication to drivers regarding deliveries and internal RFRK communications
  • Ensure that secondary location vans are all on the way to Etobicoke by a deadline
  • Ensure that the next day’s worth of equipment are transferred without fail
  • Conduct daily pre-brief with drivers prior to launch
  • Assist in post AM cleanup at Saulter

Delivery Supervision

  • Use information systems to monitor deliveries to ensure that everything is delivered on time
  • Track metrics to determine the effectiveness of delivery drivers and delivery routes
  • Alert Client Experience department of any issues that arise during deliveries
  • Liaise between drivers and Clients Experience department
  • Monitor phone calls and help to solve issues that occur during the delivery day

Delivery Equipment

  • Track status of delivery equipment, including the replacement of equipment for clients
  • Perform repairs when possible and instructs drivers on equipment maintenance
  • Make recommendations regarding delivery smallwares and equipment purchases
  • Publish and share a weekly fleet report detailing condition and pending maintenance
  • Inspect/clean returning equipment

People Management

  • Maintains positive, motivating, and efficient communication with all employees through daily huddles and regular check-ins.
  • Coach employees through effective communication, training, and recognition
  • Ensures driver compliance relative to daily duties, comportment, and all workplace policies/procedures
  • Responsible for reinforcing employee expectations through employee coaching and conducting documented warnings, in accordance with our progressive discipline policy
  • Shares all disciplinary concerns with Logistics Manager and Director SCL in centralized driver performance document
  • Maintains employee records, as required
  • Ensures that all employees are adequately trained to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner including both backup and cross-training.
  • Assists in the hiring process
  • Assists with the probationary check-ins of new employees
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

People Management

  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times and employees are following all safety procedures and policies
  • Report any injuries, accidents, or near misses immediately to Logistics Manager and fill out paperwork as needed
  • Ensure employees have the required level of safety training all staff wearing the appropriate PPE
  • Maintain compliance with the OHSA, JHSC recommendations or MOL work orders, and RFRK’s safety policies
  • Execute accident investigations in a timely and accurate fashion, and carry out any follow up required as a result of the investigation

Other

  • Liaise with vehicle service providers on repair and maintenance scheduling, and maintain a record of such appointments
  • Plans route changes, from major season changes, to minor changes for onboarding or client satisfaction; working with Logistics Manager and other Logistics Assistant Manager.
  • Executes route changes in all systems.
  • Other administrative tasks as needed

  • 1-2 years experience in a similar role
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Effective communicator
  • Min. of an intermediate level of computer literacy
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Basic mathematical aptitude including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
