We are seeking strong candidates who exhibit the potential to lead an outstanding research program, with a focus on Cryogenic Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) and/or Cryogenic Electron Tomography (Cryo-ET) with applications relevant to the areas of emerging pathogens, host-pathogen interactions, pathogen evolution, variants of concern, and the use of structures in anti-microbial drug design and vaccine development.The mission of the Medical Microbiology & Immunology Department is to provide an enriched environment for research, education and training in the field of infectious diseases, virology, immunity, treatment, and prevention. The department is comprised of well-funded, highly collaborative researchers, state-of-the-art facilities, including a 300 kV Krios G4 cryo-transmission electron microscope.The candidate will be affiliated with multidisciplinary research groups, such as SPP-ARC (Striving for Pandemic Preparedness – The Alberta Research Consortium) and the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology.PositionThe successful candidate will conduct independent research and will contribute to the Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. A competitive start-up package will be provided along with the opportunity to apply for infrastructure support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).Applicants must have a PhD degree, postdoctoral experience and a proven record of high-quality research.
