Department: Molecular and Cellular BiologyPosition Description:The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Immunology.We seek outstanding candidates whose research interests complement the department’s strengths. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in immunological approaches such as immune cell signalling, immune cell interactions, immune response regulation, immune responses to pathogens, immunotherapy, or other relevant methods in immunology. The successful applicant is expected to establish an innovative and sustainable research program that will integrate with and expand the department’s research strengths and offer new avenues for collaboration. The successful candidate will join a dynamic multidisciplinary research-intensive department with 40 faculty members who study diverse biological systems at levels from molecules to cells, including Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology & Genetics, and Neuroscience and contribute to programs in Biological Science, Biomedical Science, and Plant Science. Faculty within the College of Biological Science have access to the Advanced Analysis Centre, which houses state-of-the-art equipment, including facilities for flow cytometry, cell sorting, mass spectrometry, electron and confocal microscopy, and genomics. The candidate would have access to shared immunological and cellular biology equipment, including flow cytometers, confocal and super-resolution microscopes, and in vivo imaging systems. Graduate student training activities are focused on M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Molecular and Cellular Biology, but faculty members also participate in cross-department programs such as Immunology, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Plant Science, and Toxicology.The successful candidate must also demonstrate the potential to provide effective and innovative teaching in the discipline of immunology to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. They will demonstrate a commitment to employing scholarly approaches and innovative methodologies in areas relevant to MCB, including but not limited to knowledge translation, curriculum development, and novel methods of delivery and assessment.Application Process:Assessment of applications will begin on November 1, 2024, and continue until the position is filled.   • Describe potential teaching contributions to the department.
