General Purpose:

A Data Associate/Manager in Stout’s Transformative Change practice is a well-rounded consultant. The Associate/Manager is responsible for performing complex data analysis culminating in easy to understand data visualizations.  This involves developing a keen understanding of available data, including its limitations, data impurities, and relationships among various information sources.  In addition to excellent data skills, successful Data Associates/Managers also understand the importance of presentation and create visually appealing summaries taking into account the use of color, spatial relationships, and the number of data attributes presented while also being accurate to the interpretation of the data.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying, normalizing, and analyzing large structured and unstructured data sets

  • Identifying the relationships among multiple sources and types of data, and organizing this information to facilitate effective data analysis

  • Designing and implementing complex database models to generate meaningful analysis and conclusions

  • Using BI tools to create robust visualizations and working tools for clients

  • Maintaining detailed work-paper records of assumptions, methodologies, and information sources utilized during the performance of all analytical tasks

  • Downloading, storing, and importing raw data files into a database environment

  • Maintaining SQL database tables

  • Conducting industry and technical research

  • Performing day-to-day activities of projects including interaction with client personnel, team members, and professionals from other firms involved in the engagement

  • Preparing written analyses, reports, and presentations

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to critically analyze complex data sets and other financial and operational documents

    • Possess strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills

    • Able to work in a team as well as independently

    • Able to self-manage project portfolio and activities and ask appropriate questions regarding project tasks and timelines

    • Able to demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills

    • Able to adapt quickly in handling multiple evolving tasks as a result of new engagements and/or re-prioritized deadlines

    • Possess strong interpersonal skills

    • Highly motivated, hard-working, eager to learn, and able to motivate others

    • Able to utilize technology to solve complex problems

    • Able to effectively execute work plans

    • Able to effectively manage multiple project responsibilities

    • Able to review the work of others to provide quality assurance of work-product

    • Able to regularly and effectively communicate project/work stream status to both internal and external clients

    • Able to produce high quality work-product under strict deadlines

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a data science, information technology, mathematics, accounting, economics, finance or similar field

    • 3-6 years of experience performing data analytics, problem-solving, coding or related competencies

    • Ability to create and modify interactive dashboards and visualizations

    • Highly proficient in Tableau – Tableau Desktop Specialist or Tableau Certified Data Analyst preferred but not required

    • Highly proficient with SQL processes and database management including but not limited to creating tables, importing and transforming data, coding, and querying

    • Proficient with extract, transform, load processes

    • Experience working in a team-oriented environment

    • Proficiency in Python coding preferred but not required

    • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS preferred but not required

    For individuals assigned to work in California, Colorado, New York City, or Washington, Stout is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The range for this role considers several factors including but not limited to prior work and industry experience, education level, and unique skills. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
