To learn more about the department, the work we do, and see our beautiful state, view the following video atWHAT YOU WILL DO:As a Biological Science Assistant – Salmon Spawning Surveyor, you will:Conduct spawning surveys for Chinook salmon in the Coos Basin, on foot or using small inflatable/paddle boatsCount spawning fish and redds, and collect biological samples from fish carcassesSummarize and assist with data analysisMaintain equipmentThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required.WORKING CONDITIONS:These positions require a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day including most weekends and some night work. These positions are physically demanding. Employees will frequently be working independently under adverse weather conditions in semi-remote areas.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills.
