For our Events Team in London, we are looking to hire an:
Industrial Placement Student (Bournemouth University) – early September – June 2025

The Events team at Berenberg oversees an extremely busy and exciting calendar of events throughout the year. The team is responsible for the planning, organisation and execution of events across Europe, covering all genres from smaller networking dinners hosting CEOS and CFOs, to sporting events at Chelsea football club, golf experiences and also large, full-scale company conferences with 100’s of attendees from investors, to corporates, across Europe. The team runs 4 flagship conferences at Pennyhill Park, The Grove, New York and Munich’s Oktoberfest, and this placement student would get exposure to all of these!
The team is a busy team, they work hard and are best in class at what they do – delivering events of the highest standard. The opportunity for a placement student would mean they get exposure to the world of corporate events, helping them to develop the attention to detail, time management, organisational skills required to excel in an events career. The tasks will be varied, some more administrative, some more strategic, but all highly valued and important to the team. Travel to plenty of events will be required, and someone who is willing to put in the extra work during the busy season, helping the team execute their events as smoothly as possible. The Events team also run a programme of events throughout the year for Berenberg colleagues such as quizzes, speaker presentations, charity fundraising events for our Berenberg Kids foundation and the ever important Christmas Party!
What will you do?
- Liaising with companies attending conferences – being their main point of contact and organising logistics
- Managing and processing all expenses from the corporate account, arranging timely payment of invoices
- Booking all travel arrangements for the team
- Managing the team calendar, arranging team meetings
- Attending all major conferences (travel required) and other smaller conferences, where required
- Supporting in all pre-event planning, including; sorting badges for conferences, printing and preparing documentation, conference set-up
- Assisting with meeting turn-around where required
- Supporting on the registration desk
- Packing and unpacking boxes containing supplies for conferences
- Overseeing and managing all conference related stock
- General events administration and assisting with ad hoc duties
- Assisting with regular cross checks / data management for conferences
- Running and/or assisting with internal and charity events
What are we looking for?
- Student currently studying for an Events Management / Events related degree at Bournemouth University.
- Excellent MS office skills – to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent time management and strong organisational skills – self-motivated and comfortable in a fast moving and ever changing environment
- Professional approach: well-presented and excellent communications skills
- Comfortable liaising with clients and staff at all levels within the company
- Able to work under pressure, autonomously or as part of a team as and when required
- Good attention to detail
- Efficient, proactive, enthusiastic and willing to learn
- Adaptable and flexible
- Trustworthy and familiar with dealing with highly confidential information
- Flexibility to work out of usual office hours on occasion
- Must be available to work in the London office, on site, 5 days a week, throughout the placement.
