Call for Participation at Forum of Young Scientists Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology

Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT) invites interested individuals to its Forum of Young Scientists. Participation of the forum can be either online or on -site at SUAT, located in Shenzhen. This forum, renowned for its commitment to advancing knowledge in science and engineering, aims to bring together young researchers, scholars, practitioners, and experts from around the world to share their insights, discoveries, and research and education outcomes. The forum will focus on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

Artificial Intelligence;

Biomedical Engineering;

Computer Science;

Energy Engineering;

Life and Health Sciences;

Material Sciences;

VLSI Engineering.

A special session for introducing the strategic development plan of SUAT will also be organized to take place at this event.

 

Dates

General Forum will be held on September 19, 2024

Symposia in selected areas will be organized from November 2024 to December 2024. Specific dates will be announced later.

 

Travel Grant

A group of selected scholars will be invited to attend the primary forum and/or symposia on-site with a travel grant provided by SUAT.

 

Scholars to be invited and Application Requirements

Generally, Applicants should be under 40 years old and have held formal teaching or research positions for at least 36 consecutive months at overseas universities, research institutions, or corporate Research and Development centers. Those with exceptional performance who obtained their doctoral degrees overseas may have the work experience requirement slightly relaxed. Applicants should not have returned to or come to work full-time in China before January 1, 2024. After being hired, they must work full-time.

Outstanding young scientific talents who have already achieved significant accomplishments domestically are also welcome to apply.

About SUAT

SUAT is a newly established University at Shenzhen, the power city of industrial innovation and entrepreneurship. Upon an agreement between the Chinese Academy Sciences and the Shenzhen Government, SUAT was initiated and established by the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. 

It was also agreed that both SUAT and SIAT will continuously maintain and enhance their close collaboration, leveraging tremendous R/D resources on both sides (scholarly talents, research facilities, industrial relationship networks, etc.), and consequently benefitting the development and growth of both institutions.

The mission of SUAT is to nurture top-notch innovative young talents in critical academic fields in high demand by the urgent needs of national and global development. As such, SUAT has built a brand-new campus, designed innovative academic programs, created (Yale-like) residential colleges and established academic faculties in several multi-disciplinary fields.

These initial efforts by SUAT have received consistently positive responses and support from students and parents. In 2024, SUAT has enrolled its first cohort of undergraduate students, admitting 120 physics majors of Guangdong Province. Comparing the scores of the very first cohort of SUAT’s UG students, SUAT has been ranked #1 among all universities that are headquartered in Guangdong Province.
