GGGI Colombia is seeking a consultant to support the design and implementation of the capacity building program, learning products of the SPAR6C Program, as well as the coordinating the activities related to the Community of Practice (CoP-ASIC).

Objectives Of The Assignment:

Support the implementation and monitoring of the Community of Practice in Colombia (CoP-ASIC) and the Capacity Building Program of the IKI SPAR6C Program at GGGI Colombia.

Scope Of Work:

Under supervision of the GGGI Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Associate of GGGI, the consultant will support the following activities:

Lead the design and implementation of Article 6 Capacity Building Program for the private and public   sectors in Colombia regarding:

  • Lead the updating of a document containing the SPAR6C Program Capacity Building Strategy, including capacity building gaps, pedagogical strategies and support materials.
  • Lead the implementation of capacity building activities, including Materials development, supporting the supervision of any contractors (firms or individuals) hired to contribute to training modules and adapt/integrate the Article 6 Toolbox capacity building materials to the Colombian context (translating into Spanish language and adding relevant examples where needed). In addition, planning and delivery of training/workshops.
  • On behalf of GGGI-Colombia, contribute to the SPAR6C global consortium efforts to design a capacity development program based on the Article 6 Toolbox produced at the global level (Toolbox), including designing strategies and methodologies, activities, materials, etc. The consultant supports the generation of inputs for the program’s communication strategy as a complement to the Capabilities Program.
  • Support the SPAR6C team in the monitoring of the development and implementation of the virtual course of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development to ensure that the timetable, objectives and quality of the material developed by the server provider are met. This activity includes:
  • Coordinating between Minambiente, the service provider and GGGI during the design and production of an online course of “Introduction to carbon markets and Article 6”.
  • Support the follow-up of the service provider hired to design, produce and implement the online course “Introduction to carbon markets and Article 6”.
  • Revise, adjust and eventually propose thematic content for the course.

Lead the coordination of the Colombia CoP-ASIC serving as focal point with CoP-ASIC members and the global coordinator of the Research Mentorship Program (RMP). This activity includes:

  • Organize the meetings of the members of the CoP-ASIC Colombia in collaboration with the professors who are leading the community.
  • Identify the necessary agreements with the universities to ensure the participation of the professors who are members of the CoP- ASIC, design the documents and support the Program manager to formalize such agreements.
  • Develop and follow-up a workplan for the CoP-ASIC Colombia, in coordination with the global coordinator of the research component.
  • Contribute to the organization of second CoP-ASIC national event and First SPAR6C international yearly events.

 Lead the design and implementation of the call for students to be part of the CoP-ASIC Research Mentorship Program (RMP). This activity includes:

  • Design together with CoP-ASIC members and other stakeholders the call for students, prioritize the research topics and identify the institutions interested in hosting an intern for six months.
  • Disseminate the call for students in coordination with stakeholders and the CoP-ASIC members and GGGI communications team.
  • Lead the conformation of a selection committee for the call for students in November 2023 and facilitate its operation and selection of students for the program.
  • Support students and advisors as needed for the writing of a paper linking the research topic with Article 6 national and international challenges.
  • Facilitate the establishment of internship arrangements for students as part of the RMP, including the coordination with stakeholders interested in hosting an intern.
  • The Consultant reports to GGGI Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Associate and will work closely with the SPAR6C Colombia Program Manager – Senior Officer and Policy Coordinator of GGGI in Colombia. The consultant’s work progress will be monitored primarily through bi-weekly review meetings. During the meeting, the consultant will be asked to report on progress against the contractual objectives, activities, and milestones.
  • The consultancy budget considers an estimate of up to 3 national trips as part of the offered rate that will be confirmed and/or coordinated between the consultant and GGGI later and based on the work plan.

Expertise Required:

  • Must be a Colombian citizen, or a foreigner holding a valid Work Visa.
  • Professional in environmental sciences (Forest Engineering, Biology, Geography, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or similar), Economics, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Education, Pedagogy or related fields.
  • Advanced Degree (MSc or MA) in social studies, sustainable development, climate change, environmental sciences, pedagogy, adult education or related fields is required.
  • At least five (05) years of experience in knowledge sharing mainstreaming into projects, implementation of educational mainstreaming, and tracking of project results communication.
  • Proven experience in the design, coordination and implementation of capacity development programs for international development projects.
  • Proven experience coordinating initiatives with stakeholders from the private and public sectors, academia and civil society.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and interest to work in international and intercultural settings
  • Proven experience in sustainable development thematic areas. Knowledge of carbon markets is a plus
  • Proven track record of working with international institutions, private sector and/or government institutions leading knowledge creation, capacity building, knowledge management and related activities.
  • Outstanding communication skills both in writing and in presentation.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, able to present complex issues in a simple manner and to assess multiple layers of information to arrive to the desired output.
  • Knowledge of pedagogy, environmental education in Colombia is preferred.
  • Fluence in Spanish and English.
