Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Career Education, the Career Education Coordinator will coordinate activities that are critical to forwarding the schools goals for continued prominence in the information educational field. You will have a desire to work in a high-functioning, progressive career services unit, with an accomplished and diverse student population & staff. You will contribute to our positive and inclusive work community by building trusting partnerships across the school, continually learning, and creating impactful experiences. Responsibilities*
Career Coaching
-
Provide career coaching to all UMSI students with a specialized focus on BSI and AMDP students, covering topics such as resumes, cover letters, portfolios, LinkedIn profiles, career exploration, job/internship search strategy, networking, interviewing, and negotiation approaches.

Develop and assess outreach campaigns for target populations (i.e. new transfer students) and to promote specific services (i.e. portfolio reviews).

Exercise discretion concerning matters of significance pertaining to coaching and student development to ensure compliance with FERPA and the Clery Act.
UMSI Internship Program Coordination
-
Coordinate internal internship approval process each semester maintaining systems, forms, spreadsheets, and running reports.

Collaborate with team to facilitate student communications, which may include developing and assessing outreach campaigns to promote the Internship Program and managing the internship inbox to triage and answer student questions.

Develop a working understanding of Internship Program policies, and policies related to course enrollment and CPT work authorization to communicate with students and answer questions.
Student Experience
-
Facilitate a range of career workshops, presentations, and panels.
-
Develop an area of expertise in information-related careers across industries.
-
Create or enhance career resources according to student career interests, current job search trends, and recruiting/labor trends.

Collaborate with the Associate Director to support systems used to engage with students, which may include facilitating tutorials for students, troubleshooting issues, creating and updating student accounts, and running reports.
Required Qualifications*
-
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
-
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in advising, coaching, counseling, and coordinating programs.

Demonstrated interest in supporting student career education
-
Strong relationship-building with demonstrated ability to effectively engage and communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities.
-
Proven skills in providing quality service through developing, delivering, and evaluating programs and projects.
Work Schedule
Punctual, regular attendance is required. May require working during non-business hours and on weekends.
Work Locations
Will require travel to multiple locations on campus, and may require travel off campus. Your main office workspace is located in our UMSI Engagement Center.
