  • To process customer transactions with a high level of care and accuracy to provide an excellent personalised service
  • To provide an efficient, intuitive statement service to customers and stakeholders
  • To manage and process inward and outward cheque/ image clearing including customer contact to approve payments.
  • Use banking knowledge to manage customer expectations

Complete reconciliations and confirmation checklists where requiredRole responsibilities:To carry out some or all the following tasks as required:

  • Produce various bank statements
  • Assist with adhoc mail shots/ annual print runs
  • Produce Copy statements upon customer request
  • Process Image clearing in line with procedures including contact with customers and stakeholders for confirmation of payment instructions.
  • Manage Inward and Outward Unpaid cheque process
  • Deal with the receipt/ collection/ negotiation of Foreign cheques
  • Place stops on cheques as instructed by stakeholders/ customers
  • Deal with incoming RBS queries
  • Produce weekly reconciliations of internal accounts for stakeholders
  • Deal with incoming Remittances for customers
  • Process evouchers and batch input for other departments
  • Insert narratives on system for customer cheques
  • Process out debit paper clearing
  • Process Euro/ $ clearing
  • Pass entries to clear ledgers daily back to zero positions as per procedures
  • Update central statistics for any tasks
  • Complete daily checklist of tasks
  • Incremental growth and development both of the role itself, and the capabilities required for acceptable performance of the job should be expected over time.
  • To be able to deal with customer queries in person, by telephone (phone to be answered within 3 rings) and or in writing

We may request that you undertake alternative activities which (still within Operations) are not specific to the tasks outlined within this role profile. This is to allow us to collaborate and meet customer demand in all areas of Operations. This will be for a defined and limited period and full training will be provided to you where this need is identified’RequirementsNecessary experience or qualifications

  • Demonstrable relevant bank and supervisory experience relevant to the Clearing role.
  • Clearing subject matter expert
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines with thorough, accurate and quality work
  • Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills and in-depth analytic skills
  • Can “challenge the norm” and think of new and innovative processes
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change, and happy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive ‘problem resolver’, owning and resolving issues
  • Ability to liaise with key business areas
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Must have a minimum of five GCSE’s grade A-C (including Maths and English) or equivalent. Two A Level grades A-D are desirable.

Whilst not imperative, banking experience is preferred, as is experience in remitting CHAPS, SWIFT and financial reconciliationsBenefits
