We are looking for 1 full-time, or 2 part time Senior Clinical Psychologists (band 8B) to join our Clinical Health Psychology team to take up posts which will be 0.5wte specialising in work with people with Functional Neurological Disorders (FND) and 0.5wte working in our General Medical Psychology Service (both posts can be combined to create 1 full-time post). The post is one of a number of service developments under our General Medical Psychology Service to address the significant waiting times we have for a range of complex clinical health presentations including FND. The FND role will involve building close working relationships with staff in Neurology and representing Clinical Health Psychology in a Functional Neurological Disorders Patient Pathway that has been developed in Psychology in recent years. The General Medical role will involve delivering highly complex 1:1 and group treatment interventions to patient presenting with a wide range of acute medical and long term physical health conditions as well as supervision of more junior staff in the General Medical Psychology team.You will join a dynamic, well-established, supportive Clinical Health Psychology team, which includes Clinical Psychologists, CAAPs (Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology) and Assistant Psychologists. The wider Clinical Health Psychology Service consists of posts which are embedded within multidisciplinary medical teams across the areas of Pain Management, Major Physical Trauma, Adult Weight Management, Rheumatology, Blood Borne Virus, Oncology, Intensive Care, Psychosexual, Respiratory, Post Covid-19 and the General Medical Service, which takes referrals for a wide range of other medical conditions. Clinical work is conducted via face to face, video conference and telephone in a range of community and hospital based locations Across Fife. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work, teaching and training and partnership work with other agencies. Whilst we anticipate that part of this post will involve developing a specialist psychology role working with people presenting with Functional Neurological Disorders, there may be a requirement to work in other areas of the specialty to manage waiting times, if the need arises.You will provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and 1:1 and group based treatments for patients presenting with a range of psychological problems associated with Functional Neurological Disorders and other medical conditions. You will also contribute to the evaluation of this new service, and to the development of evidence based practice. It would be an advantage to have had some training and previous experience in delivering psychological therapies to patients suffering psychological distress related to a range of acute and long term physical health problems.You will also play an active part in the wider Fife Psychology Service, seeking opportunities for research, professional development and contributing to that of others. The post will be based in one of the two Psychology Service bases located at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline and Stratheden Hospital, Cupar, but patient clinics may be provided in other areas of Fife.The Fife Area-Wide Psychology Service is a large service with over 200 staff, comprising the full range of clinical and health specialties, with extensive involvement in training, research and service development. Close links with Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee and St. Andrews Universities’ D. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. Your offer/contract of employment will therefore reflect the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
