Job Description:PeaceHealth is seeking a full time Inpatient Coder II – Hospital Coding. This remote role requires the incumbent to reside in OR, WA, AK or TX.The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $30.22 – $45.32. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.This coder is responsible for advanced coding of inpatient, including the assignment of ICD-10-CM diagnosis and PCS procedure codes as well as the abstraction of clinical information for hospital services.What you will enjoy:

• Reviews the medical record to assure specificity of diagnoses and procedures for compliant code assignment, providing data and accurate/optimal reimbursement for the provision of hospital services.
• Abstracts information from medical records following established methods and procedures.
• Identifies problem documents and works with submitting departments to correct errors.
• Responds to edits both during and after the coding process.
• May enter charge information when appropriate.
• Collaborates with clinical documentation integrity nurses and physicians to assure accurate documentation to enhance data capture and reimbursement.
• Utilizes computer assisted coding software following very highly defined processes.
• Provides coding for all types of inpatient coding.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

• Accredited Program Required: Coding. or a combination of education and experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
• Completion of a formal coding certificate/education program preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years direct work experience in inpatient acute care, hospital-based coding and abstracting for IPPS reimbursement.
• The use of ICD-10-CM and PCS coding systems.
• Formal training or college coursework from a medical coding accredited school, in lieu of experience may be considered and
• Knowledge of acute care and critical access reimbursement requirements preferred.
• Certified Professional Coder – Apprentice, Registered Health Information Administrator, Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Coding Associate Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Outpatient Coder or Certified Professional Coder – Hospital

Additional Skills:

• Ability to maneuver through multiple computer applications including encoders, abstracting, groupers, EMR and MS Office applications including Excel and Word.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.
• Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work in an independent and/or remote environment.
• 3M computer assisted coding experience preferred.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Sedentary work.
• Predominantly operates in an office environment.
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
