Job Description

We’re 23,000 colleagues in more than 30 countries delivering oil, gas, wind and solar power to 170 million people worldwide. Taking on tough energy challenges is our job. Right now, we’re facing an enormous task: supplying the world with the energy it needs, while lowering emissions.

We’re up for the challenge. Are you?

The position

By joining our team in Marketing, Midstream & Processing you will have the opportunity to:

  • Act as the primary representative in the external commercial working group on behalf of Equinor, covering all commercial aspects including negotiation of commercial agreements with the government or JV partners, analysis of regulated business models, interfacing with economic analysis and project financing divisions, developing business cases, and leading the commercial quality assurance and control process towards Equinor’s investment arena and corporate executive committee.

  • Negotiate, draft, and revise commercial contracts; ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies through liaison with external stakeholders.

  • Analyse and interpret legal documents, providing advice on potential commercial and contractual issues, identify and manage associated risks.

  • Monitor and report on contract performance, participate in review and approval processes, prepare contract summaries and reports, and maintain accurate records of all negotiations.

  • Collaborate closely with the internal asset manager/owner, technical and legal leads, commercial support resources, and relevant executive leadership to anchor and inform negotiation mandates and management committee decisions.

  • Provide commercial support for business development opportunities within the broader UK CCS and Hydrogen portfolio.

  • Contribute project learnings to Equinor’s global CCS, Hydrogen, and LCS networks and help develop best practices for project maturation.

Equinor is seeking a competent, self-sufficient, and motivated commercial Contract Negotiator to join our partner-operated asset team. This role involves securing Equinor’s technical, commercial, and strategic interests in a key project within our UK low carbon solutions (LCS) asset portfolio, which holds significant importance in both UK and global net-zero efforts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, and revising contracts, as well as engaging with external stakeholders to reach mutually beneficial agreements. The role requires excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, and a comprehensive understanding of contract law, commercial practices, and the regulatory environment. Ideally, a skilled commercial contract negotiator with extensive experience in major field development and midstream assets through the capital value process. The successful candidate will coordinate the non-operated commercial assurance of the asset towards a final investment decision and beyond.

You

Some qualities are essential for Equinor. You identify with our values, open, collaborative, courageous and caring, which guide our decisions and help us succeed and grow. You make safety your priority and contribute to our zero-harm culture. For this position, we are also looking for:

  • Bachelors, Masters or PhD within a relevant area.

  • Extensive and relevant commercial experience, preferably leading commercial teams in an international joint venture setting.

  • Proven experience in negotiating and managing contracts, with in-depth knowledge of contract law, commercial practices, and the regulatory environment.

  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Experience with the commercial aspects of field development and related infrastructure maturation from early phases of the capital value process through to project sanction and operations.

  • A result-oriented, highly flexible approach, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a first-of-a-kind UK CCS and Hydrogen setting.

  • A high degree of self-sufficiency and a broad commercial network within UK field developments.

  • The ability to understand, manage, and monitor multi-disciplinary commercial project risks.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to operate diplomatically in a multi-partner, international JV setting where English is the business language.

General information

Please attach copies of your diplomas, certificates and grades in English or a Scandinavian language. Applications submitted without necessary attachments will unfortunately not be evaluated.
