This position works to develop community relationships and create dialogue and information sharing to build citizen support and capacity for reuse and waste reduction. This is done through administration of a grant program, partnership management, stakeholder communication and coordinating communications. Reuse and waste reduction are primary goals for the Waste Services Branch’s strategic plan.What will you do?

  • Identify stakeholders both internal and external that are working to support waste reduction and reuse in Edmonton and provide recommendations to the supervisor regarding future partnership opportunities
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders to support waste reduction and reuse branch initiatives by working together, with their member base to address misinformation in their communities
  • Use partnerships to solicit feedback on waste initiatives that can be integrated into educational programming to help ease confusion and provide better customer-centered service
  • Gather data and writes reports on stakeholder/partnership relationships, communications and updates for the supervisor
  • Creates and maintains a stakeholder database, including determining what information to store and the most effective and secure method to obtain and store the information
  • Liaise with the Reuse Centre Operations Coordinator to ensure that partnership individuals comply with branch and corporate policies
  • Attend co-sponsored events or networking events and acts as a spokesperson for the Reuse Centre, as needed
  • Review/screen grant proposals to ensure they meet the minimum mandatory eligibility criteria
  • Coordinate communications with potential applicants to assist with grant completion, including acting as a main point of contact for applicants, answering inquiries and ensuring timely information is given to grantees
  • Maintain and verifies receipts and payment records, and reviews invoices
  • Prepare monthly reports on the funded project status and submits them to the Program Coordinator
  • Develop policy and procedures around the grant process, and provide ongoing feedback on potential innovations and/or updates to the process
  • Creates marketing materials for the grant and sends to potential applicants or identified partner groups
  • Responds to media inquiries as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma (or higher or equivalent) in Recreation, Education, Leisure, Business Administration or a related discipline with training in program development
  • Minimum one (3) year of experience in program delivery

Assets:

  • Experience in grant administration, community activation and/or partnership development
  • Standard First Aid & CPR certifications

  • Ability to collaborate with external and internal partners to share/receive information and achieve branch goals
  • Ability to apply skills in research and problem solving to gather information, develop reports/summaries and provide recommendations
  • Proficiency in the use of computer applications, including Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides etc)
