Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled painting work such as maintaining and repainting surfaces of existing products, painting newly constructed projects, and related work. This position works independently to safely prepare, paint detail aircraft according to schedule using company quality standards and operating procedures. Act on behalf of the Lead in their absence and provide assistance and work direction to other painters. This position is for the second shift.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coat surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other material, spray guns, and other devices and ensure high quality final parts.

  • Prepares, paints, and finishes coating to aircraft, parts, and assemblies including set up the equipment used to paint aircraft components.

  • Prepare composite and metal surfaces, sanding, water break testing as well as tape testing.

  • Prep, mask, etch, plate, prime of composite components and parts.

  • Performs detail touch ups.

  • Must be able to utilize and maintain painting equipment and support with overall shop cleaning and maintenance.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires High School diploma or equivalent and five or more years of related experience.

  • Must be customer focused and possess:

  • Considerable knowledge of safety practices, OSHA, tool, equipment and materials used in the field.

  • Considerable knowledge of surface preparation, material and techniques for surface finishing.

  • Must possess ability to read and interpret drawings to understand customer requirements.

  • Physical ability to lift to 50 lbs. and ability to work from ladders.

  • Interpersonal skills and written communication skills to work as a team.

  • Be able to interface with employees and upper management from other departments and effectively communicate status of job and estimated completion dates.
