CancerCare Manitoba is the perfect place to thrive if you’re seeking a fulfilling career in an organization that is committed to its employees’ well-being and professional development.Competition # 462-24-7144001Posting End Date: January 06, 2025City: WinnipegWork Location: MacCharlesDepartment: PharmacyUnion: Non-UnionHiring Status: PermanentAnticipated Start Date: ASAPFTE: 1.0Anticipated Shift: Days/Modified daysDaily Hours Worked: 7.75Annual Base Hours: 2015Salary: $27.112 /$27.515 /$28.165 /$28.797 /$29.384 /$29.984Job Summary:Under direction of the Pharmacy Management Team, the Pharmacy Technician – Compounding Supervisor is responsible for providing services and ensuring the Pharmacy Department meets the regulatory compliance requirements for sterile and non-sterile drug compounding with respect to training, procedures and documentation.The incumbent performs tasks within their scope of practice to participate in the Pharmacy Department’s drug distribution systems and contribute to the safe and effective use of medications. This will include training and evaluating staff competency in sterile and non-sterile compounding, insuring facilities adherence to policies and procedures, and assisting in sterile and non-sterile compounding when required.Note: The successful candidate will be working with hazardous materials on a daily basis. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training are provided. Primary working hours are Monday to Friday day shifts with occasional weekends and statutory holidays.Qualifications:Education
- A Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Program (CCAPP) Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate, or
- A program prescribed by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba for candidates who successfully complete a non-CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate
- Recognized or eligible to be listed as a Pharmacy Technician by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) is required.
Experience
- 2 years of recent experience as a Pharmacy Technician in the Health System and in a related practice setting is preferred
- 2 years of sterile compounding experience is preferred
- Previous experience training staff is preferred
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be consideredSkills and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic computer skills and medical terminology
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated competency in pharmaceutical calculations
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and independence in planning work to meet demanding schedules
- Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with other individuals
- Demonstrated system-thinking in day to day work
- Demonstrated ability to use and learn new software programs and apply those skills to implement and support medication systems
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy structures and operating models, day to day operations and standard policies and practices is an asset
- Previous experience with anti-cancer medications is preferred
Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations
- Listed or eligible to be listed as a Pharmacy Technician by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) within 3 months of hire is required
- Must provide employer with record of continuing education requirements to maintain eligibility to be a Pharmacy Technician under the legislation of the Pharmaceutical Act and Regulations
- Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology membership is considered an asset
- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate

- Ability to speak French is considered an asset
