The expected employment dates are 01/08/24 – 30/04/25.This is a part time (0.6 FTE) position working 22.2 hours per week with variable patterns which can be flexibly spread out across multiple weeks / months as long as the core business needs are met. The pro rata salary will be up to £20,878.80 per annum.*The role can be fully office-based at Cressing Temple Barns or hybrid, but presence and attendance at events and pre and post-event site meetings will be required.Essex is a diverse county with high levels of deprivation through to highly affluent communities, which gives a wide variance in life expectancy and quality. Culture and Green Spaces will deliver exceptional customer experiences, demonstrating the benefit of Essex’s strategic location, with the objective of developing a financially sustainable operation.The Conference, Events and Venue Lead will lead and manage the conference, events and venues service offer across the Culture, Heritage and Green Spaces service, with a clear remit for increasing both the volume of events and conferences delivered and the resulting revenue. The role will encompass the costing, development and promotion of the service offer ensuring that spaces and assets in the services are showcased as hireable spaces. In collaboration with the marketing team create new business opportunities.The role holder will be expected to consolidate the service offer across the function and determine the value proposition and financial model for the conference, venues and third-party events. Develop relationships with 3rd party providers and manage the creation of a schedule of 3rd party events and venue hire bookings across the year for the service, making the most of the assets and optimising commercial opportunities.With a qualification in events management, hospitality, catering and conference venue work, or equivalent by experience, this role will ensure a team approach to delivering excellent customer service.Accountabilities:Develop and maintain the service offer, value proposition, financial model and positioning for conference, venues and third-party events services. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the service design, test and embed the service offer.Accountable, through strong partnership working with the Marketing & Business Development teams, for identifying, planning and delivering high quality third-party events, conferences, community weddings and other events that maximise the utilisation of the services spaces and places.Responsible for day-today budgetary management and incoming tracking and in providing senior officers with regular updates on targets and progress for new business targets. Determine and measure the return on investment for the service offer and provide insight regarding the performance and profitability.Responsible for creating and promoting venue hire propositions, in collaboration with marketing, to both internal and external clients, with a specific focus on maximising on income opportunities from the hiring out of the services estate to third-party hirers. Develop effective working relationships with third-party events providers. Set up commercially sound agreements with third-party events providers within ECC guidelines.Working with the Culture and Fundraising Team to position the services places and spaces at the front of mind for both internal and external agencies when looking for sites at which to run, host or promote cultural events and activities.Accountable for the exploration and the development of business cases for future event, venue and conference opportunities, and in building collaborative partnerships with stakeholders to provide commercial opportunities.Accountable for the delivery of all conference and event services, ensuring excellent customer experience and initial front of house services in order to ensure the smooth running of the Conference, events and venue service. Collaborate closely with Country Parks, Essex outdoors, ERO and other functions to manage the oversight and delivery of the service offer.Accountable for delivering customer venue requirements in their entirety for all bookings. Accountable for the delivery of an excellent customer experience from the hire or use of the service’s assets, ensuring all customer needs are met prior and during the course of third party or venue and conference bookings, resolving any issues or concerns.Work in collaborations with the CRM officer and wider marketing team to ensure all existing and new customer data is included in the new CRM system and that sales and promotional campaigns to drive income opportunities are accurately and regularly delivered. Supported strategically by marketing and tactically by the events, conference and venue coordinator, accountable for sales campaigns and reporting on successes.Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.The Experience You Will Bring:Ideally educated to RQF level 3 (‘A’ Level) with a qualification in hospitality, catering and conference venue work, or equivalent by experience.Significant experience of working in a conference centre/hospitality environment.Evidence of continuing development and knowledge in relevant professional area.Evidence of previous successful experience in managing venues and staff.Demonstrable basic competence in the MS Office suite of programmes.Evidence of successful delivery of excellent customer service.Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively across different teams to support service delivery.To read more about us please visit:Why Essex?Essex County Council has a location to be proud of.
