Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor (Full-time, Permanent) to support our projects across Eastern and Southwestern, Ontario, in managing distribution and transmission crews. The ideal candidate will be based out of Eastern and Southwestern Ontario.The Construction Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations on the construction site, monitors the four (4) week plan and daily production output, while continuously communicating with the Construction Manager regarding any changes in the forecasted plan.Forbes Bros Ltd. has a family-oriented culture that focuses on flexibility, communication, growth & respect in the workplace. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
  • Communicates and reviews the four (4) week plan with the Foreman and Supervisors at the construction site to ensure understanding and to build commitment.
  • Monitors and reports to the Construction Manager regarding the employees and subs working on the construction site
  • Reviews and compares daily labour hours and equipment hours submitted to the estimated allotment to identify discrepancies and/or additional requirements to achieve results.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by ensuring all employees follow the FBL safety and environmental work practices and procedures.
  • Ensures workers are deemed competent in the tasks they perform
  • Performs regular field inspections and follow-up with workers in regard to their quality and safety of work.
  • Identifies and investigates any rework situations to ensure quality standards and client expectations are met or exceeded
  • Monitors Quality Control on all work completed and document submission
  • Provides direct coaching and support to workers on their operational, technical and HS&E roles and responsibilities.
  • Supervises all employees onsite; provides feedback, enforces company practices and administers disciplinary measures as required. • Provides senior level presence on-site, reviews site labour requirements and mentors/coaches staff on proper procedures and techniques related to construction • Reviews employee productivity, compliance with obtaining work permits, safety codes, material and equipment expenses

What We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum of Five (5) to Seven (7) years experience with Utility/Powerline Construction or related field
  • Trade Certification, when applicable, is required
  • Strong leadership and team building skills, including the ability to lead by example, build consensus, actively listen, and engage/influence employees at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Task-orientated with excellent time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, time sensitive environment
  • Strong ethics, professionalism, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to lead a team of all different skill levels, lead teams by example, build consensus, actively listen, and engage crew members
  • Ability to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate to remote/site work schedules
  • Able to present a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract
