Are you an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller with 10+ years of experience in the architecture or engineering industries looking for your next opportunity? A well-established environmental consulting firm in Seattle is looking to bring on a Controller to join their team!  

This firm has been contributing to water quality improvements, environmental sustainability and making building sciences more environmentally friendly for over 40 years. Locally founded, they now have operations in WA, OR, AK, MT and WY! As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems and lead a dynamic team of accounting professionals.

Controller Responsibilities:  

  • Partner with the CFO to develop, communicate and implement financial policies and internal controls over financial reporting  

  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports; prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements including cash flow reports and projections 

  • Assist the CFO in the annual budgeting and planning process  

  • Evaluate, implement, update and streamline policies, procedures, and controls  

  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of accounting professionals 

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, vendors and other stakeholders 

Schedule:  

  • Monday-Friday, 8am – 5pm  

  • Hybrid schedule (2 days in office, 3 days WFH)  

Controller Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting and financial roles that were responsible for core accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, auditing, and compliance 

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience  

  • Comes from an architecture/engineering consulting firm or public sector background  

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of ERP systems (Deltek Vantagepoint preferred but not required) 

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and FAR compliance 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business with an emphasis in accounting 

Compensation: $122,555 – $162,555/yearly
