This includes but not limited to tree maintenance crews, stump removal and tree planting. The successful applicant will also provide support and contribute to strategies and initiation of the Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP).Key Duties and Responsibilities * Provide daily staff supervision, to a team of unionized and non-union or seasonal staff in the Forestry section. Instruct, supervise and monitor forestry contractors. Is readily available to answer staff questions, provide on-the-job training and clear instructions. Accountable for scheduling and coordination of staff activities to ensure efficient operation while meeting standards and in full compliance of regulations. Participate in union/management meetings when required. Develop and oversee staff training for procedures or equipment specific to the Forestry trade. (eg. Climbing, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lift devices). Monitor staff performance and participate in staff discipline and conduct investigations as needed.
