The deadline is open until we find the right candidate.About the roleWith a strong background in daily news copy editing, you will work with team of reporters and editors to copy edit range of content including news, analysis and opinion columns geared to a legal audience. Candidate must be a self-starter comfortable with a fast paced, deadline driven environment.Responsibilities:Copy editing range of content including legal news, analysis, and option columns from staff reporters, freelancers and third party contributorsWorking directly with reporters and editors as needed to improve quality of copy and ensure it meets style guideProcess photos, add links and citations in our content management systemSource and write-up based on releases, legal industry announcements (usually 2/day) of firm announcements, judicial appointmentsUpdate Law360 Style Guide, and present/train team on updates and best practicesTake on additional duties related to publishing and copy editing as neededRequirementsSound knowledge of Canadian Press styleExcellent copy editing skillsProven sound editorial judgmentExcellent communication skills, highly organized and self-motivatedPrevious newsroom experienceExperience in using content management systems is an assetProven ability to work independently, on tight deadlines, with a high attention to detailExcellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with team to ensure quality daily production of news contentLegal or business background is an assetWork in a way that works for youWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization, with various flexible and remote working options available to employees.About the businessLexisNexis Legal & Professional® provides legal, regulatory, and business information and analytics that help customers increase their productivity, improve decision-making, achieve better outcomes, and advance the rule of law around the world.
