As we continue to grow our business, we’re looking to add to our corporate development team to support our global M&A strategy.We’re looking for action-oriented individuals that are willing to work hard in a fast-paced, global, multi-cultural environment that values results, accountability and working as a member of a team delivering excellence through their expertise.Role – Corporate Development- Mergers & AcquisitionsThe successful candidate will be a key contributor to the development and execution of Descartes’ global M&A strategy with direct involvement and responsibility to:

  • Identify and engage with potential targets to build the acquisition pipeline
  • Evaluate potential opportunities with a view to identifying key value drivers, potential synergy opportunities and risks/upsides early in the process
  • Negotiate and execute deals working closely with all stakeholders in the deal lifecycle (internal and external)
  • Lead due diligence activities and coordinate workstream activity
  • Work with the integration management office leading up to close to prepare for the integration
  • Monitor and report on post-deal performance, including synergy realization and key milestone achievements

Required Qualifications and Key AttributesThe ideal candidate will have proven themselves in a corporate development or corporate finance environment, with demonstrated analytical skills, project management experience, and solid financial knowledge. A good understanding of the logistics and supply chain landscape would be advantageous.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ideally 10 years of related experience, with operational experience a key asset
  • Strong understanding of financial statements with the ability to assess and analyze key business drivers
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
  • Ability to create and effectively communicate financial and strategic rationale of potential deals
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a changing and time-sensitive environment
  • Comfortable working in an international and multicultural environment
  • Comfortable working across multiple time-zones depending on project activity
  • An accounting/finance designation or enrolled to obtain one (CBV, CFA, and/or CPA) is an asset

Salary Range: $150,000 to $170, 000 CAD plus short and long term Incentive plan “Compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for this position only. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills as well as the years of experience you have.
