About the role:Owkin has an ambitious growth strategy focused around biopharma, diagnostics and data access. Corporate development is pivotal to ensure successful and scalable growth. As a Corporate Development Senior Manager you will:

  • Help to scale the company and consolidate the Owkin ecosystem by leading technical assessments of in-licencing opportunities, clinical development efforts, target discovery & validation as well as collaborations in data access and generation, biomedical AI and diagnostics.
  • Work closely with Owkin executives and experts to negotiate strategic partnerships, licensing deals, co-development opportunities, acquisitions, and spinouts.
  • Support investor relations and fundraising activities, preparing Owkin’s scale-up, growth and exit strategies.

As a Corporate Development Senior Manager with Owkin, you will gain incredible, high-level exposure across the organization, including to leadership teams and C-Suite management. The role will also require intimate collaboration with Biopharma, R&D, Data Partnerships, Sales, Tech Platform, Legal, Finance, and Strategy and Operations teams.In particular, you will:

  • For areas of interest in biopharma, R&D, data, AI, diagnostics: Support research on novel technologies, products and solutions, perform landscape assessments of competitors and service providers, and deep-dive on differentiated players to create reports and materials to be shared across the company and with senior management
  • Enable growth by identifying and leading discussions with potential strategic partners and M&A targets; contribute to negotiating proposals, redacting legal contracts, and closing deals; act as an account manager to maintain positive long-term relationships
  • Lead due diligence work streams for in-licencing opportunities, acquisitions and analyze deal success metrics, prepare and present memos
  • Support Owkin’s biopharma operations by leading potential collaboration discussions with CROs, chemistry companies and assessing their capabilities as potential partners by leveraging knowledge from multiple teams within Owkin

  • Contribute to formulating Owkin’s biopharma strategy to develop Owkin’s drug pipeline; provide insights to R&D and Medical on topics related to discovering novel targets, prioritizing new combination therapies, identifying new treatments, in-licensing existing molecules, setting up experimental facilities, etc.
  • Organize, and facilitate cross-functional workshops on key strategic work streams; act as a project manager to foster effective collaboration across internal stakeholders to ensure alignment, enable progress, and meet OKRs & KPIs
  • Participate in defining Owkin’s cross-functional strategy, external growth objectives and business plan
  • Prepare investor presentations, board materials, and discuss specific external growth opportunities with Owkin investors and advisors
  • Help grow Owkin’s data access and generation strategies, integral to diagnostics and biopharma objectives
  • Support Owkin senior management in achieving their vision to transform biomedical research and help provide better drugs to patients faster
  • Represent Owkin at networking events and conferences to identify strategic partners and M&A targets, monitor market trends and report internally
  • Support the hiring and management of corporate development associate(s), junior strategy analyst(s) and intern(s)

Position is based in our Paris or London offices or remotely from France or UK, with the ability to travel to a local office.About youWe are looking for someone who has a fascination with innovative research and Artificial Intelligence, the future of clinical research, life sciences and medicine, and is passionate about tackling the most complex health challenges.The successful applicant will have:

  • A University Degree with strong scientific or finance background, preferably a Masters/PhD degree in the Finance, Sciences, Math or Technology
  • Strong financial skills including business case modeling involving ROI calculations and scenario analysis, budgeting and an ability to illustrate conclusions and recommendations to senior team members
  • Well-developed project management skills to support the senior team with contract negotiations (in-licencing, CRO collaborations, service provider agreements etc.) and an ability to move projects forward by identifying next steps and following up with relevant teams to become primary point of contact
  • Experience working with CROs, chemistry companies and other outsourced pharma services businesses and have a good understanding of how the biopharma industry (basic understanding of drug development and pipelines) and sub-sectors work in terms business models, contracts etc.
  • The ability to learn new, complex topics quickly
  • The capacity to both work independently and collaborate with multiple teams across the organization
  • A hands-on and proactive approach, demonstrate creative thinking, possess integrity, professionalism and little work ego
  • The know-how to get things done efficiently: prepare across multiple workstreams, prioritize, then execute,and deliver
  • Well-rounded communication skills: fluent in English and articulate, with exemplary presentation and writing skills, including presenting to senior management
  • High-levels of computer literacy (Google suite, Slack, Salesforce, etc)

And, ideally also bring:

  • Solid experience in M&A, transaction services, strategy consulting, or corporate development in a large tech / healthcare / life sciences organization; or you similar of experience working in a PE or VC backed biotech start-up company
  • Familiarity with competitive intelligence and business intelligence analysis
  • Been involved in strategic or partnering deals with life sciences (biotech, CROs, pharma) companies, data companies (clinical, pathology, omics, spatial omics) and technology companies
  • Previous experience in preparing investor materials, Excom presentations, and undertaking due diligence
