The team hails from a range of backgrounds from Capgemini, The Instant Group, Barclays Ventures, Octopus Investments & Backed VC.As part of the wider team, Love Ventures has a highly experienced investment committee which comprises four members, three of whom are exited founders from Skyscanner, Instant Group and Passmark Security, as well as one with corporate technology experience from Google and UiPath.The Love Ventures team is dynamic, ambitious and has a passion for technological innovation and is looking for an individual who matches this energy.About you and the roleLove Ventures is seeking an intern to collaborate with the investment team and lead the development of its data-driven investment sourcing activities.You’ll have the unique opportunity to leverage your knowledge in data science, machine learning and analytics to help shape the fund’s data-driven investing strategy, and in turn identify the UK’s most exciting startups and bring further automation and intelligence to the fund’s investment process.This part-time position is available for a period of up to six months from August 2024. The duration and exact dates are flexible depending on the candidate’s availability.Key Responsibilities● Collaborate with the investment team to develop in-house data-driven investment sourcing capabilities● Build and automate internal workflows for the fund’s investment process, including deal screening and investment analysis● Optimise the scope and quality of incoming data on startups and market intelligence● Derive insights from the wealth of data across the fund’s technology stack● Manage and optimise the fund’s technology stack (Affinity, Google Suite, Zapier, OpenAI and a growing variety of API integrations)● Empower the team to work efficiently and effectively through smart productivity solutions● Explore new opportunities and implement your own ideas to bring next level intelligence and automation to the investment teamYour skills & qualifications● Passionate about venture capital and the applications of data science, machine learning and AI to early-stage technology investments● Energised by the opportunity to bring efficiency and automation to investment activity● Analytical, with strong problem-solving skills● Highly technical, with proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Python and Javascript), experience interacting with and building APIs and in machine learning, AI, advanced statistics and Excel preferred● Adaptable, independent and a self-starter, capable of taking on projects with limited supervision● Highly organised with a keen attention to detail● Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality● Currently pursuing a degree or PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning or a related field at University● Previous internship or project experience in data science or a related field preferred● Fluent in EnglishWhat we offer:● This is an unpaid internship, however, the successful candidate will have a daily expense and travel budget● Remote working arrangements, with the choice of working from our office in central London whenever you like (including a weekly team breakfast and team socials)● The opportunity to gain exposure to venture capital from both investment and operational lenses● The opportunity to build a network and learn from successful investors and operators at a fast growing emerging manager● Extensive training and mentoring from the team● A chance to build a network in the venture capital and private equity communityOther information:If you have any questions about this role, please contact the Hiring Manager .Please note, this job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
