We offer office based, hybrid and remote work on permanent and consultancy contracts all over the world, making us the true global employer of choice.About the role:As a Data Infrastructure Engineer, you will focus on designing, installing, monitoring, and troubleshooting the messaging and streaming infrastructure of Kafka in self-hosted or cloud-native environments (e.g., GCP, AWS, OCI, Azure). Your role will support AI and machine learning applications by building and maintaining the infrastructure required for efficient data processing and analysis. You’ll collaborate closely with data scientists, data engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and design scalable, reliable data platforms.What you’ll be getting up to:Kafka Management:

  • Manage Kafka clusters for high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement Kafka solutions for data processing and event-driven architectures.
  • Monitor Kafka metrics, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations.
  • Administer Kafka infrastructure, including brokers, ZooKeeper, Kafka Connect, schema registry, and KSQL.

Cloud Infrastructure:

  • Manage GPU compute instances and the overall infrastructure in the cloud.
  • Experience with GCP-managed services and understanding of cloud-based messaging/stream processing systems, BigData solutions, and Google Cloud data products (e.g., BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Postgres, Dataflow, Dataproc).

Data Architecture:

  • Design and implement scalable data architectures, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and distributed systems.

Performance Optimization:

  • Monitor and optimize data infrastructure for performance and resource management.

Security & Compliance:

  • Conduct data risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and security audits.
  • Perform security architecture reviews and develop threat models.
  • Support data classification and data loss prevention (DLP) initiatives, ensuring adherence to cloud security and data security best practices.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Work with cross-functional teams, data scientists, and data engineers to align on data requirements.
  • Provide documentation for data infrastructure solutions and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to maintain the security of production systems.

Requirements:Technical Expertise:

  • Extensive experience as a data infrastructure engineer with a background in building production-scale data platforms.
  • Proficient in managing both on-premises and cloud-native Kafka clusters.
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud services, particularly GCP, and familiarity with network and security best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage RDBMS such as Postgres, MSSQL, and CloudSQL.

Programming skills:

  • Proficiency in GoLang or Python; experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

Security & Compliance:

  • Knowledge of DLP solutions, threat detection, and incident response tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices and ability to influence stakeholders to maintain high standards in data infrastructure security.

Professional Attributes:

  • Experience in multinational tech environments and proficiency in English.
