To ensure our solutions are scalable and our data is reliable, we’re building a truly world class platform; a democratised streaming platform empowering data users across the business with easily accessible data in real-time.We’re looking for a visionary Data Platform Engineering Manager to lead our Data Platform team; a pivotal position that will play a key role in driving this change and ensuring teams are reaping the benefits.We take a ‘Platform as a Product’ approach which is currently focused on three areas: Events and Data Streaming, Data Lakes and Warehousing and GenAI use cases and the right candidate will be responsible for defining the strategy and driving the delivery of all three.Key responsibilities:Define the Data and AI Platform Vision: Develop and communicate a clear vision for a multi-modal Data and AI platform aligned with the checkout’s strategic goalsData Product Strategy: Advocate for and define what constitutes a data product ensuring that teams understand how to create reusable, high-quality data assetsBuild & Lead a High-Performing Team: Be an inspirational leader and mentor for the diverse team of data and platform engineersFoster Innovation: Encourage the team to explore and adopt modern tools and techniques to consistently evolve the platformPlatform as a Product: Champion this approach focusing on experience, end-to-end simplicity and usabilityDrive a Data-Driven Culture: Work closely with product, engineering, analytics, and operations teams to ensure that data products solve real business problemsTraining & Education: Lead initiatives to up-skill teams on how to work with the new platform, data tools, and streaming paradigmsEvangelise Best Practices: Act as an internal advocate for event-driven design, data contracts, and product thinking applied to dataVendor and Third Party Management: Work with your third party partners to deliver exceptional serviceQualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:Expertise in both streaming and traditional ETL data architecturesStrong knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS S3, Athena, EMR, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, …) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Proficiency in PythonProven achievements with Platform Engineering tools and methodologies including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code and self-service capabilities. * Excellent leadership, team management and project management skillsExcellent communication skills, with the faculty to translate technical concepts into business outcomes for non-technical stakeholdersCapacity to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with a commitment to professional development and continuous learningAdditional InformationApply without meeting all requirements statementIf you don’t meet all the requirements but think you might still be right for the role, please apply anyway.
