Job Description

About the role:

You will lead local data science projects/requests in collaboration with local/global MS teams, and other local functions. You will also lead digital projects such as creation/maintenance of dashboards. You will be part of the Digital and Data Sciences (DDS) team within the Manufacturing Sciences (MS) organization at the Los Angeles Facility. In addition to supporting local MS data science plans, the other core responsibility of the DDS team is implement the Continued Process Verification CPV) plans for each of our products, and to ensure the manufacturing process for LA products and intermediates remains in a state of control. Statistical and analytical expertise is required for developing Continued Process Verification (CPV) plans and helping troubleshoot adverse process trends by proactive data analyses. You will work with the Subject Matter Experts and IT team to develop systems for the trending and analysis of process data. You will solve complex data extraction tasks for analytics projects, and GMP reporting such as annual Product Quality review (aPQR). He/she is also responsible for maintaining Discoverant CPV analysis groups as the manufacturing process changes, and source system updates.

How you will contribute:

  • Drive local data science projects according to prioritization.

  • Manage the respective functional and interdependencies accordingly.

  • Manage improvements on local process monitoring and process improvement.

  • Support and participates in global/functional/local GMS data science community.

  • Help maintain CPV plans, including quarterly reports.

  • Perform data analyses using applicable analytical systems.

  • Help investigate adverse trends and implementing proactive measures to reduce manufacturing risks and variation.

  • Expected to learn manufacturing or relevant process knowledge required to implement data analytics projects and CPV.

  • Develop /using dashboarding tools such as Qlik or Power Bi.

  • Support MVDA programs including SIMCA.

  • Lead/drive Digital/ Agile 4.0 initiatives using NorthStar systems such as Discoverant.

  • Proficiency in database languages (SQL), understanding of data models and databases.

  • Hands-on, able to support data science initiatives, evaluation of new software/technologies.

  • High level project management skills.

  • Ability to support data science cross functional teams by data acquisition from multiple information systems.

  • Experienced in using statistical process control, control chart and process capability techniques.

  • Experience with GxP and related regulations.

  • Understanding of biochemistry or protein separation, plasma protein knowledge.

  • Manufacturing process knowledge encouraged ( fractionation and purification process).

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, engineering or other related technical field. 4+ years of related experience. Some leadership experience.

  • In-depth experience and knowledge of one of the following: Discoverant, LIMS, JDE, Osi Pi, Databricks, Qlik Dashboard development.

  • Course work in Data Analytics and Statistics recommended. Knowledge/familiarity of coding languages such as Python, R

Important Considerations

  • In general, your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

  • Indoor office working conditions

  • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

  • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.

  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. We are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. 

For Location:

USA – CA – Los Angeles

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$96,600.00 – $151,800.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
