Our specialist centres of excellence have a globally connected footprint with locally integrated agency and client creative partnerships, as well as expanded partnerships across WPP to amplify our offering when needed.What does a Ford Pro Deputy Editor do at Hogarth?The Deputy Editor will play a pivotal role in developing the stories and content that helps communicate the aspirations and accomplishments of a fast-growing commercial vehicles business unit, dedicated to delivering products supported by a full ecosystem of software, services and solutions for customers across Europe.They will be an accomplished writer and storyteller, able to digest multifaceted initiatives that extend beyond physical products to include fleet telematics, finance, EV charging solutions and much more. They will be able to own projects from inception to delivery while fully utilising the resources and skill-sets of colleagues from across the wider Creative and Design division. They will be at their most effective working as part of a large, multi-national team, serving a global mobility company client and building strong, productive relationships with key client stakeholders and contacts across the agency and client businesses.Responsibilities

  • Research, write and work with the wider agency and client teams to develop press releases, factsheets, technical specifications, video and animation scripts and storyboards, social media content and a wide variety of further assets to support communications activities.
  • Work with clients and digital specialists to structure content for media kits and other channels.
  • Attend a regular cadence of planning and strategic meetings, providing updates and insights for ongoing projects.
  • Own relationships with key client stakeholders and form productive relationships with contacts across the client business and agency partners to become a trusted expert and point-of-contact for your projects, supporting colleagues with information and insights.
  • Manage and own responsibility for multiple long-term projects simultaneously and deliver materials to an exceptional standard and pre-determined deadlines while delivering editorial guidance to junior colleagues.
  • Manage reviews and approvals for assets with Communications, Product Development and Legal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and compliance with brand guidelines.
  • React quickly to short notice requests and news-making opportunities, delivering cogent, accurate and engaging content in a fast-paced newsroom and feature writing environment.
  • Ask the right questions to find and develop stories that will get business papers/websites excited, and appeal to consumer audiences beyond automotive and fleet – successfully pitching those stories to key Communications decision-makers and developing them into fully-formed packages.
  • You will quickly become familiar with legal and client requirements for publishing claims and contribute to central logs to comply with audit requirements.

Reporting lines and key stakeholdersThis role reports to the Managing Editor, Hogarth, UK.You will work closely with Hogarth Editorial, Social Media and Production teams, alongside client Communications, Marketing, Software and Telematics, and Product Development teams.Requirements

  • Have editor-level experience on websites/newspapers/magazines/.
  • Possess an enthusiasm for the automotive industry and familiarity with automotive technology and terminology – especially in the context of commercial vehicles and related fields.
  • Possess a strong grasp of the significance of telematics, software and services in the commercial vehicle industry and have demonstratable experience of communicating technology stories.
  • Have a keen eye for proofreading, fact-checking, cross-checking and spotting trends and anomalies in data charts.
  • Be able to dissect technical information and translate it into understandable and accessible copy.
  • Be comfortable interviewing and pitching ideas to people at all levels of seniority and be able to build respectful relationships with expert contacts.
  • Be able to work with video editors, graphic designers and social media experts to create a suite of assets to support your stories.
  • Be comfortable working within an agency and taking direction from multiple stakeholders.
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to manage multiple work streams effectively.
  • The ability to work quickly and accurately, to a brief and to a deadline.
  • Be comfortable and amenable to regularly working from multiple agency and client offices.
