Design Bridge Engineers – Dublin and LeedsRoughan & O’Donovan (ROD) is looking for senior bridge engineers with a minimum of 3-7 years’ experience for permanent positions within our expanding bridge teams in Dublin and Leeds.Job type: Permanent, with full-time, part-time or flexible working options availableLocation: Sandyford, Dublin 18, Ireland; Woodford, Dublin 17, Ireland; and Otley, Leeds, UK.Salary: CompetitiveThe opportunitiesProvide specialist and technically demanding input to bridge and multidisciplinary civil engineering projectsWork with a dynamic, talented team on an exciting range of bridgeworks projectsDevelop your skills to the highest industry standardsWork closely with new and existing clientsSupport our bid teamAdvance your career under the guidance of our senior management teamRole responsibilitiesWork with both existing and new bridges and civil structures across a range of materials and forms, superstructure, substructure and articulation elementsGet involved at the early project stages: scoping, specifying and interpreting surveys, inspection and investigative works, optioneering, scheme designDetailed design: modelling, calculations, overseeing drawing productionDocument preparation, including authoring technical reports, such as AIPs, specifications and contract documentsSupport reviews of others’ work: cat 3 checking, as a client representative and designer’s site representativeProvide inputs to clients from local and national authorities, consultants, and D&B contractors amongst othersEssentialA degree in civil/structural engineering to master’s level or equivalent. For example, in the Republic of Ireland, a five-year undergraduate degree (Level 9 to the Irish National Framework of Qualifications or Level 8 for those qualified before 2013)Minimum three to seven years’ professional experienceChartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland, the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent, or demonstrably working towards chartered statusAbility to work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary teamA developing strong technical knowledge and engineering skills/knowledge of bridge engineering software (analysis and design)Flexible, motivated and focussedExcellent attention to detailAbility to produce quality design outputsGood organisational skillsA strong work ethicExcellent written and oral communication skillsFluent/highly proficient in spoken and written EnglishDesirableKnowledge and developing experience in the use of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and other standards and legislation including Eurocodes in the field of bridge/structural design.Multidisciplinary consultancy or contracting experience from allied civil engineering disciplines, such as highways, structural, geotechnics, rail or waterA willingness and aptitude for understanding and contributing to colleagues’ work in areas beyond transportation infrastructure projectsA willingness to contribute to bids and tendersAbout Roughan & O’DonovanRoughan & O’Donovan (ROD) is expert in planning, designing and managing major infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients across Ireland and the UK.
