Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM Mississauga is hiring a Design Manager.As a Design Manager in Alternative Delivery, you will lead multi-disciplinary project delivery for complex projects, such as Design-Build (DB) and Progressive Design-Build (PDB) subway stations.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership, applying advanced expertise to resolve critical issues and improve project outcomes.
  • Organize and manage work plans, design activities, and deliverables for medium to high-complexity projects.
  • Ensure alignment with design schedules, budgets, and staging/phasing requirements.
  • Facilitate communication among project management, design, and construction teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate design criteria preparation, interdisciplinary reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee contract documents, technical specifications, and QA/QC processes.
  • Support constructability reviews, risk management, and value engineering sessions.
  • Act as a liaison between construction administration and engineering during execution phases.

This role demands strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex projects effectively.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering + 10 years of relevant experience in transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in transportation
  • Professional registration in Ontario or equivalent professional association registration and ability / willingness to transfer to Ontario in limited time
  • 7+ years of design management experience on large multi-discipline engineering teams (500 mil +) with experience in complex station design and transit facilities.
  • Ideally a Master Degree in a relevant discipline (civil, structural, geotechnical, etc.)
  • Understanding of depots (bus and rail) and stations (at grade, elevated and underground)
  • Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) on multi-discipline projects

The ability to deal with uncertainty, changing and multiple priorities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills applied to design activities for contractors
  • Excellent oral and written skills as well as interpersonal/teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Proven success to supervise and review the work of less experienced engineers, train interns on numerical modelling
  • Ability to liaise with other disciplines, professionals, clients
