As Director of Development, you will have the opportunity to continue to instill a culture of philanthropy and individual giving, aligning with one of our strategic objectives to diversify our revenues. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the senior management team and Board of Directors ,you will identify prospects, design compelling proposals, steward donors and secure gifts to meet our annual fundraising revenue goal.Responsibilities:
- As a member of the Senior Team, the Director of Development will participate in the planning and implementation of the Museum’s organizational strategy
- Lead across all areas of fundraising – including, but not exclusive to, individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundations and government grants
- Carry out the primary focus of growing and sustaining a portfolio of key donor prospects, developing cultivation and stewardship strategies, and working in concert with the Executive Director
- Provide leadership and act as a lead contributor in individual giving activities – growing revenues and an annual communication plan
- Provide support and guidance to the Board of Directors, engaging their networks and leveraging their insights to advance the organization’s philanthropic goals
- In collaboration with the ED, set annual fundraising targets and KPI’s tied to the strategic goals. Work closely with the Senior Team to ensure that the plan and metrics are understood and worked on collaboratively
- Craft compelling cases for support to solicit funding for key priority projects. Research and lead outreach to all prospective donors, sponsors and funders
- Work in concert with the Director of Marketing & Operations to increase brand awareness across professional advisors and specific donor market segments and in the wider community
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and Operations, ensuring updates, adequate briefs and detailed information flows so that all activities are rigorously conceptualized and supported
- Support the organization and the ED in building and deepening governmental relationships
- Provide regular updates to the ED and senior team on activity and success in fundraising deliverables
- Lead, by example, as a senior member of the Museum team, coaching and mentoring, and motivating staff to achieve goals and to work well together
- Work collaboratively and closely with the senior team, and across the organization to leverage colleague’s expertise and advance philanthropic opportunities
- Foster a culture of teamwork and synergy across departments to maximize impact and mentor colleagues on ensuring fundraising is integrated into our work
Conditions of Employment:This is a full-time, hybrid position.
