Director of IT Strategy and Governance

Job Description

The Director of IT Strategy and Planning reporting to the Global Head of IT strategy, PMO and Governance will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the IT strategy that aligns with Brinks’ business objectives. This role is responsible for strategic planning, IT annual operating plan, performance metrics, and stakeholder engagement. The Director will ensure that IT initiatives support the company’s strategic goals and drive operational efficiency and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Governing and managing IT Strategy:

  • Partner in leading the creation and implementation of a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with Brinks’ business goals.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand business objectives and translate them into IT initiatives.

  • Continuously assess and refine the IT strategy to adapt to evolving business needs and technological advancements.

Strategic Planning & Roadmap:

  • XMatrix SD Deployment and Management

  • Oversee the development of long-term IT plans, ensuring they support the overall business strategy.

  • Identify and prioritize IT projects and initiatives based on strategic importance and potential impact.

  • Develop and maintain a strategic planning roadmap that outlines key initiatives, timelines, and milestones.

IT Budget Management:

  • Manage IT budgeting, planning, and cost optimization to ensure efficient use of resources.

  • Develop and monitor financial metrics to track the performance and ROI of IT investments.

  • Work with the finance team to align IT financial planning with the overall organizational budget.

Performance Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of IT initiatives.

  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • Build strong relationships with global business leaders to ensure IT strategies align with business needs.

  • Serve as a liaison between IT and other departments, facilitating collaboration and communication.

  • Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to gather feedback and provide updates on IT initiatives.

Innovation and Technology Adoption:

  • Identify emerging technologies and trends that can provide competitive advantages to Brinks.

  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies to drive innovation.

  • Foster a culture of innovation within the IT team, encouraging the exploration of new ideas and solutions.

Establishing and Maintaining IT Governance Framework:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT governance framework that aligns with Brinks’ business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure governance policies and procedures are documented, communicated, and enforced across all regions.

  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of the governance framework to adapt to changing business and regulatory environments.

Leading Governance Routines:

  • Establish and lead governance routines, including IT governance meetings, steering committees, and review boards.

  • Ensure consistent application of governance practices across all IT projects and initiatives.

  • Monitor compliance with governance policies and report on governance performance to senior management.

Running and Governing Regional Technology Councils:

  • Govern regional technology councils to ensure regional alignment with global IT

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between regional IT leaders and the global IT governance team.

  • Provide guidance and support to regional technology councils in implementing governance practices.

Conducting Governance Framework and Maturity Assessments:

  • Develop and execute a schedule for regular governance framework and maturity assessments.

  • Assess the maturity of IT governance practices across the organization and identify areas for improvement.

  • Develop and implement action plans to address gaps and enhance governance maturity.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify, assess, and manage IT risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including data protection and cybersecurity standards.

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to governance policies and standards.

Performance Metrics and Reporting:

  • Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to IT governance.

  • Prepare and present regular governance performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement in governance practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT strategy and planning, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven experience in developing and executing IT strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Certifications: ITIL, TOGAF, or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proficiency in strategic planning and financial management tools.
