If you have a passion for performance, value a collegial and collaborative culture, and approach work with the highest integrity, invest your career here.Job DescriptionAs a Director, Performance you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the performance measurement, benchmarking, and attribution activities for the total fund and for continuing to advance the analytical capability of the Performance function within CPP Investments. You will help set the strategic direction of the team including implementing scalable processes and systems and ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.The Performance team is part of the Management Analytics group within the Finance Department at CPP Investments. The Performance team is responsible for calculating returns on the Fund’s investments and benchmarks along multiple dimensions to assess investment performance.Accountabilities
- Recruit and develop a high performing team that makes a meaningful contribution to both Management and committee reporting as well as insights generated by performance analysis.
- Design insightful attribution analysis for the investment groups and Management to assist in understanding the drivers of investment performance across key investment decisions made.
- Oversee the evaluation of proposed team and department Policies, benchmarks, and performance measurement methodologies from an operational, qualitative and relevance standpoint.
- Support the creation and update of the Performance Measurement and Reporting Standard, Performance Measurement Methodologies, and operational procedures.
- Product and Data Owner for enterprise performance engine and/or the analytical performance engine, including the development and prioritization of product roadmaps.
- Develop and continuously improve the operational processes within the Performance team.
- Leads the development of new performance metrics to meet performance monitoring needs of stakeholders and internal committees, including preparing formal material for Management and internal committees
- Ensure the effective communication and execution of the Department and fund wide cross-functional projects, system applications, operational capabilities to ensure value added processes and systems are developed to achieve objectives.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or graduate degree in related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Relevant professional designation (CFA, CIPM, FRM, CPA, etc).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Advanced proficiency in performance measurement and attribution methodologies, including emerging industry trends and academic research.
- Advanced knowledge of Python with a focus on analytical packages (e.g., Pandas, Numpy) an asset.
- Advanced Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.) an asset.
