Sophos is headquartered in Oxford, U.K. More information is available at .Role SummaryWe are looking for a talented, high-energy leader to own Quality Engineering for our Security Operations group – spanning teams that own MDR and XDR. As Director of Quality Engineering for the Sophos Security Operations Group Product Lines- you will be responsible for the High-Quality Releases and Strategic Quality Roadmap in an agile scrum environment while working with teams across multiple time zones and centers of excellence. This is an incredibly important position in which you are expected to stand up for the quality of the product and the customer experience.You will be working for various quality aspects of the product and processes utilized to build and deliver the Product Features. The role would require you to work with Software Engineers, Engineering Managers, Product Management, Cross-BU Teams and Senior Management to ensure Measured, Monitored – Automation driven Software releases with focus on Continuous Delivery/Continuous System Integration, Test Strategy, Test Design, Test, Automation/orchestration of the engineering processes contributing to the customer satisfaction. This is a highly involved, leadership position for a candidate with a passion for quality, security, technology, and innovation.What You Will Do

  • Management and technical leadership for highly skilled and motivated team of SDETs/QEs distributed across multiple Scrum teams and Geo-locations.
  • Proactively drive consistency of QA approach by coaching, mentoring, monitoring and training teams on methodology and processes, to ensure that software quality is consistent across the engineering group.
  • Provide leadership to the team for achieving consistent, Monitored and measurable software quality goals.
  • Identify the gaps in current test methodologies and address them using proper progress tracking metrics.
  • Identify the gaps in the current automation coverage and come up with the Plan to increase the coverage.
  • Identify the new processes to track the test and automation coverage and implement them with proper tracking metrics.
  • Work closely with the other peers -Engineering and PM for timely delivery of the projects
  • Validate requirements and acceptance criteria with product management to ensure delivered products meet expectations.
  • Work with wider engineering and operations on deployment of the software and enablement of the features in production to ensure that regressions are identified quickly.
  • Hiring and managing the best quality engineers who are software developers in test and understand software development and automation.
  • Development of Test Strategies, Test plans and managing successful execution for the same.
  • Coordination & communication with Stake holders, Engineering Partners at multiple international sites

What You Will Bring

  • 15 -20 years of technical and Quality Assurance experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Higher Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Ability and experience in formal supervision, hiring/retaining, coaching, mentoring, and guiding of the SDETs
  • Experience in managing First-line and/or Senior People managers.
  • Knowledge and wide application of the Software engineering, DevOps and Quality Assurance principles, theories, concepts, tools.
  • Ability to evaluate/improve existing and propose new engineering processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience in Test Planning, writing Test Strategies.
  • Hands-on past Automation / Coding and Code Review experience
  • Exposure to API testing using REST APIs
  • Experience in Testing of SOA/Microservices based Products and CI/CD Deployments
  • Knowledge / Experience with Cloud based platforms and technologies.
  • Experience working with Agile/ Scrum SDLC setup.

Desirable

  • Experience working with XDR and SIEM technologies.
  • Experience building testing strategies within cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Understanding of security operation centers technologies and processes, including analyst workflows for investigation and response.
  • Understanding of networking and virtualization technologies.
  • Hands-on experience in Automation and Framework Development.
