OverviewGallagher Re seeks an experienced broker to join its APAC / Nordic treaty reinsurance team. The candidate should have solid experience in the Property treaty reinsurance market and have a strong command of technical, statistical and broking skills.This role will be based in our Walbrook office in London.How you’ll make an impactSplit across the Asia Pacific (APAC) and EMEA Team supporting client management and broking functions.You will be focused on the development and execution of reinsurance transactions across classes, with a particular focus towards property, using all the resources that Gallagher Re has to offer.The role will require effective communication with various stakeholders, both internal and external.Typical tasks would include:

  • Frequent engagement with Gallagher Re offices across APAC and EMEA
  • Marketing and broking, representing clients and Gallagher Re in the market
  • First stage idea development of structure, coverage and overall origination of marketing and building a renewal
  • Review data, statistics, and information packs in support of the placement of a client’s reinsurance programme to aide with marketing and broking
  • Support creation of slips to ensure client has best in class coverage
  • Manage and resolve queries from clients and reinsurers, including regular in person engagement
  • Work on ad hoc projects, supporting strategy, conducting research and supporting production of reports/PowerPoint presentations
  • Work on RFPs and tenders supporting the growth of Gallagher Re

About youWe are looking for an individual with:

  • An aptitude for numbers
  • Track record of accurate detailed work
  • Technical Reinsurance knowledge and experience

Qualifications

  • A Chartered Insurance Institute qualification (Cert CII, Dip CII, ACII) preferred
  • Experience of handling treaty reinsurance business

Technical Knowledge

  • Understand client’s financial and business environment, their opportunities and issues
  • Relate that environment to reinsurance solutions, through knowledge of risk assessment and financial mechanics
  • Thorough knowledge of reinsurance products, especially related to property classes
  • Understanding of vendor cat models and the ability to interpret DFA output

Experience

  • Experience of handling treaty reinsurance business
  • Ability to discuss wider risk and capital management and regulatory issues affecting the (re)insurance industry and bring ideas and solutions to existing clients
  • Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of reinsurance marketplace

Skills/Other

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Team player and able to build relationships
  • Highly organised with good time management skills
  • Be able to prioritise different tasks and workload
  • Soft skills such as awareness and appreciation of different cultures
