We’re looking for motivated individuals who can inspire and engage young students while enjoying a rewarding and educational experience themselves.We’re hiring English Language Teachers for a fixed-term summer contract.The Role: As an EFL Teacher at ALPADIA, you’ll help students achieve personal and academic growth in an immersive, multicultural camp environment. You’ll deliver well-planned, engaging lessons that align with our teaching standards, ensuring a safe and fun learning atmosphere and contributing to an overall positive camp experience.This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding English teacher to develop their career with a leading organisation.Paid training is provided, offering support and development to help you succeed in this role.Key responsibilitiesTeaching
- Ensure all language tuition is appropriate to a camp environment and in line with the ALPADIA curriculum.
- Have and demonstrate a sound knowledge and awareness of the use of English and the linguistic systems underlying it, providing appropriate models of both spoken and written English.
- Ensure the content of the lessons considers the course objectives, the learning needs and cultural backgrounds of the students.
- Ensure each lesson leads to relevant learning outcomes, which are made known to students, and which are achieved through a coherent sequence of activities.
- Show initiative to ensure the syllabus is adapted to meet the specific needs of our students, both at a class and individual level.
- Ensure that there is an appropriate variety of teaching techniques, activities, task types which motivate and appeal to different learner types.
- Ensure that there are opportunities for differentiation.
- Ensure that the ALPADIA teaching resources are exploited to support learning outcomes and maximise learning.
- Ensure students are engaged and a positive learning atmosphere is created.
- Ensure that students are praised appropriately and encouraged to experiment with the language.
- Ensure that there are opportunities for production.
- Encourage the sole use of the target language in classrooms wherever possible, both from the students and the other teachers.
- Ensure students receive appropriate and timely feedback on their performance during the lesson.
- Ensure lessons include activities to evaluate whether learning is taking place.
- Ensure that the outside world is brought into the classroom with authentic resources and examples when appropriate.
- Ensure learning is promoted by the effective management of the classroom environment and resources.
- Always maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare, highlighting any issues to the Camp Manager or Academic Manager.
- Liaise with the Camp Manager and the Academic Manager to resolve any instances of issues, questions or concerns raised by students, agents, parents or other stakeholders.
General
- Always represent ALPADIA in the best conceivable way, being polite and friendly to the students, both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers at all times.
- Understand procedural documents and ALPADIA policies relevant to the role.
- Be familiar with all British Council inspection criteria relevant to the department.
- Actively participate in all staff meetings as necessary.
- Attend and where necessary contribute to, weekly Professional Development Sessions in a spirit of positive engagement.
- Be proactive about both your personal and professional development including attendance/completion of all compulsory training sessions and to actively participate in any training offered.
- Engage positively in a reflective teaching approach and developmental observation process, embracing an open-door classroom policy.
- Write lesson plans when requested by the Academic Manager for formal observations, inspections or professional development purposes.
- Arrive at the centre and ensure all lessons start and finish on time.
- Complete the attendance within 5 minutes of each lesson starting and report any absences according to camp procedures.
- Assist with placement testing as required.
- Read, understand and sign any relevant risk assessments as required.
- Undertake other duties as deemed necessary by line manager.
QualificationsSkills & ExperienceEssential
- Level 6 Qualification – Examples:
- TEFLI status – Examples: CELTA, Trinity Cert. TESOL or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a client focused approach
- High level of patience and approachability
- Ability to be flexible and adapt where required
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities
- Ability to plan the lessons efficiently while adapting to the demands of a fast-paced camp environment
- Excellent understanding of the unique strategies involved in teaching young learners
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies
- Solid IT skills including MS Office
Desirable
- TEFLQ Status – Examples: DELTA, Dip. TESOL or equivalent
- Prior EFL teaching experience
- Experience of teaching in summer camps or similar contexts
- Experience of teaching young learners
- Experience with digital teaching tools and e-learning platforms
- Ability to find and present solutions to problems
- Ability to use initiative when required

- Typically a residential position with accommodation provided on site
