Electric/Omni tech (Theatre Practitioner – Level 2 or 3 )We are hiring for two term positions:

  • June 1 – 7, 2025
  • June 23 – October 18, 2025

We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play here, help us steward this land, and honour and celebrate this place.The OpportunityThis Electric omni tech position will have a background in lighting, along with basic competencies in the remaining departments. The job task may include assisting across other technical areas depending on the nature of production needs, including staging, sound and video departments.Roles and ResponsibilitiesReporting to Production Manager, Performing Arts, the Electric/Omni Tech will help support the events scheduled during National Indigenous Peoples History Month as well as the Banff Summer Arts Festival. Below are some key accountabilities:

  • Responsible to support the integration of department-wide activities; and may be called to support coordination of a highly specialized activity.
  • Execute all job tasks with attention to safety procedures
  • Provide technical production support for music concerts and a wide variety of other productions including dance, opera, and theatre
  • Technically support live music concert performances including string quartets, orchestras, chamber music, new music, rock, pop and others.
  • Liaise with other staff to ensure effective support is anticipated and provided to ensure a successful experience for artistic clients, participants and faculty
  • Ability to assist with live audio set ups for concerts including setting up and patching microphones and basic troubleshooting
  • Ability to assist with wireless microphone system set ups and mic’ing up performers
  • Ability to hang & focus lights
  • Ability to assist in the projections department
  • Assist with general stage carpentry set ups for concerts and dance shows
  • Knowledge in the safe operation of fly systems, and the ability to operate fly systems
  • Understanding of theatrical rigging
  • Run shows as running crew
  • For shows: participate in planning, set ups, show calls, changeovers and load-outs

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Theatre Practitioner level 2: must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a working practitioner in their discipline within a Theatre or Performing Arts production environment.
  • Theatre practitioner level 3: must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a working practitioner in their discipline within a Theatre or Performing Arts production environment.
  • Has completed a formal theatre education
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and multi-media and able to operate specialized equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the theories and practices that support this discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Able to work with tight, changing timelines in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledgeable of related industry trends including the application of up to date techniques, and use of special materials and current health and safety standards.
  • Able to apply of professional theatre techniques and methods to provide the quality, efficiency and support level required by Performing Arts.

Special Requirements

  • Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.

Employment Terms and Benefits

  • In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
  • Theatre Practitioner Level 2: this position pays between $22.59 and $25.85 per hour working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
  • Theatre Practitioner Level 3: this position pays between $27.17 and $31.51 per hour working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
  • We are hiring for two term positions from: June 1 – 7, 2025 and June 23 – October 18, 2025
