Actalent is hiring a Functional Test Engineer with experience in an automotive product development environment. As a Functional Test Engineer, you will gather and analyze system configuration, performance validation requirements for engine systems of On-Highway trucks. You will work onsite in Redford, MI and will be required to travel for summer / winter truck testing (40% remote travel).

Job Requirements:

• Preferred post-college experience or translatable work experiences (Internships) within the automotive industry

• Preferred knowledge of diesel engine combustion, aftertreatment, transmission, and control systems

• Preferred instrumentation installation, electrical architecture & troubleshooting, and S/W & calibration Flashing Experience

• Communicate directions, submit work orders, and work within a Union environment

• Data logging & analyze system configuration, performance validation requirements for engine systems of On-Highway trucks

• Troubleshoot System level performance failures, perform root cause failure analysis to prevent potential failures, and to identify areas of system performance improvements

• Preferred familiar Vector CANape & CANalyzer or INCA & MATLAB experience

• Leverage data analysis tools, diagnostics and calibration data using Vector Products (CANape)

• Report writing skills outlining daily test activities and issue escalation documentation

• Generate performance graphs, histograms, identify data abnormalities, review results from validation to write daily reports, and maintain technical documentation

• Preferred Chassis and/or Towable Chassis Dyno

• Proficient with Microsoft Tools

• Able to travel 40% of the year (Remote Testing)

• Able to provide clear directions to achieve test objectives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Automotive / Mechatronics / Electrical / Electronics / Controls Engineering

• Preferred knowledge of diesel engine, aftertreatment operation, and emissions

• Strong engineering fundamentals practices

• Ability to communicate and maintain professional and social interaction in a multi-cultural environment

• Ability to communicate daily test plan or work orders and work within a Union environment

• Self-driven: Can identify and connect with other engineers to develop technical competencies
