Our Compass Digital Core Product Engineering team builds food ordering apps, operator management and kitchen display systems, empowering hospitality guests, front and back of house operations. TBD – Trunk Based Development, MONOREPO, AWS CDK plus our own CI/CD tool to effectively use the MONOREPO, Observability – T.E.M.P.L.E., Node.js migrating to Typescript, Serverless – NPM, Managed AWS Services, Feature flaggingNow, if you were to come on board as one of our Manager, Engineering-, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  • Lead and build teams of leaders, adept at both frontline and strategic leadership.
  • Guide teams in identifying and implementing best practices across processes and technical governance.
  • Ensure teams adopt agile mindset principles in their technical and product decisions.
  • Collaborate with the management team to initiate and champion new initiatives, fostering an iterative approach.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovative problem-solving, skill development, and effective collaboration with teams and clients.
  • Address and resolve systemic challenges in the development pipeline.

  • 3+ years in a management role, with direct reports
  • 5+ years of direct hands on experience, within software development
  • A strong understanding of Agile principles and agile development practices
  • You’re a fast learner who can easily navigate information at both high and low level, & know when to spend your time at each
  • You have a keen eye for critical questions and a deep practice of coaching people through questions
  • You believe hierarchy is a concept, least useful when applied to people, and treat everyone as the leader they are
  • You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty if it came to it but prefer to spend your time looking at improvements at a domain or system level
  • You’re an ideator who has proven follow-through, with a side of appropriate delegation
  • You easily articulate technical challenges, risk, and initiatives to non-technical people
  • Iterative development, continuous integration & deployment, lean development aren’t just buzzwords to you – and you have the celebratory scars to prove it
  • You understand Software Engineering goes far beyond code and proactively build relationships throughout your organizationent pipeline.
