Reach out directly to apply TODAY to Grace Williams atJob DescriptionThe purpose of the Plant Chemist position is to provide assistance in the coordination and proper disposal of waste materials for customers. This position oversees various tasks including the collection, segregation, processing, and supporting documentation of waste activity.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:– Assist in the segregation of chemicals by hazard class.– Pack/un-pack compatible materials in appropriate containers and prepare them for treatment or transportation.– Complete identification of waste and ensure proper disposal.– Examine bottles of waste and execute the disposal steps following SOPs.– Complete necessary paperwork per job.– Prepare, package, label, and segregate consumer products/lab pack materials for ultimate disposal.– Complete logs and other paperwork necessary for tracking and billing purposes.– Test for compatibility of materials before consolidation for disposal; combine materials in drums or dispose of them directly in treatment tanks.– Assist in the proper disposal of chemical waste using chemical knowledge.– Receive shipments of waste materials by unloading drums containing smaller lab packs. Review packing slips to verify the amount and type of material received.– Keep operating areas, walls, pipes, and floor in a clean and safe condition.– Possess introductory knowledge of high hazard materials management/assessment, cylinder handling, hazardous waste generation, management practices, shipping, and related procedures.Hard Skills

Qualifications1) Bachelors degree required, bachelors in scientific discipline strongly preferred.2) If lacking bachelors degree in scientific discipline 1+ years of experience within environmental, quality, laboratory, or position handling chemicals is required4) Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and interest to work with chemicals5) Effective communication skills6) Must be able and willing to wear respirator, hazmat suit, and other PPE for long periods of time (must create clean seal on respirator – no long facial hair)7) Must be able to lift 50+ lbs (this position will require long periods of time on feet moving throughout facility)8) 1st shift | M-F 8am – 5pmINTERESTED IN THIS ROLE?
