Space Forge is a fast growing advanced materials company. Our goal is to exploit the extreme temperature, microgravity and ultra-high vacuum conditions available in low earth orbit (LEO) to manufacture materials that cannot readily be grown terrestrially. Returning these materials to earth, we aim to revolutionise the semiconductor market and to make space work for humanity. To achieve this we have developed a range of technologies including the world’s first returnable and reusable satellite platform, the ForgeStar®. We are looking to hire an Environmental Test Engineer to join our Testing team to help qualify the ForgeStars for space.What will you do?

  • Managing on & off site environmental test campaigns including vibration and thermal vacuum of our satellites and payloads
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate system performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Supporting the R&D process for our technologies

Key responsibilities

  • Test campaign management including planning test specifications for systems, sub-systems, and key technologies
  • Execution of tests on satellite systems and key technologies
  • Communicating with other specialties within Space Forge to guide the definition of tests and to relay the results of tests
  • Liaising with external test houses to organise environmental testing

RequirementsEssential –

  • Experience of satellite environmental testing
  • Strong knowledge of testing techniques and equipment management

Desirable –

  • Experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Creation of test scripts

  • Able to communicate with teams working both on-site and remote
  • Able to communicate professionally with customers and external stakeholders
  • Resilient and adaptable to technical and non-technical roadblocks, as many are expected
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and technologies
