Recruitment range: $67,453 – $71,430 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.Performance range: starting salary to max of $75,685 is available through annual performance increases.An employee in this classification is excluded from the bargaining unit as defined in the Labour Relations CodeIn accordance with the university’s Equity Plan and pursuant to Section 42 of the BC Human Rights Code, the selection will be limited to members of the following designated group(s). Job SummaryReporting to the Vice-President Indigenous (VPI), this position provides executive-level, comprehensive administrative and financial support to the VPI and is one of the first points of contact for the public on all aspects of the Indigenous Portfolio within the Office of the President.The position deals with sensitive and confidential information and at all times the incumbent must demonstrate discretion, independent judgment and high professional standards, operating under strict timelines requiring constant adjustment of priorities and balancing of workload. Knowledge of colonization and the myriad of issues that arise from colonization (i.e. racism, mental health, addiction) is necessary. Specifically, an understanding Coast Salish protocols including working knowledge of community structures, big house, chief and council, Elders, band administration and family structures.The incumbent keeps the VP Indigenous well informed through ongoing communication, alerting the VP Indigenous to any situations that may require attention, often under strict timelines that require triaging and constant adjustment of ever-changing priorities.This position works collaboratively as part of the administrative team in the Office of the Vice-President Indigenous, and provides coverage for reception and other administrative duties as required.
