Learn more about our in our .Project Overview:Bechtel along with Bantrel and Comtech, has been appointed as the Delivery Partner (DP) for the Ontario Line (OL) Project in Toronto, Canada. The OL is a brand-new metro line serving some of Toronto’s busiest districts and brings much needed additional connectivity and capacity to the city’s public transport network. The project scope includes the design, build, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new underground, surface and elevated track. The OL Project is being delivered through three major Public Private Partnership (P3) contracts and multiple Early and Advanced Works (EAW) contracts. The OL is planned to open for passenger service in 2031. The DP, the customer Metrolinx and the Technical Authority (TA) are working together as the Integrated Project Team (IPT) to manage the delivery of the project.Job Summary:The South Civil P3 contract is for the construction of 7km of twin-bored tunnels running east-west under downtown Toronto, one surface station (Exhibition) and six underground stations. The deep underground stations are typically 30-40m bgl and will be connected to the other stations by TBM bored tunnels. The stations are being constructed from street level (top-down) after the demolition of buildings (some with heritage considerations). Excavation will be within piled shafts or boxes and the station cavern will be opened by SEM techniques. The stations are located in congested and densely populated areas of downtown Toronto. In these areas there are many stakeholders which need care, consideration and communications.Osgoode Station is one of the more complex underground stations, being an interchange with the existing Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway (Line 1). The Osgoode Station site is located partly in the grounds of Osgoode Hall, which is the home to the Law Society of Toronto, the Judiciary and Court of Appeals, and are important and sensitive stakeholders.The Field Specialist Osgoode Station – Nights is responsible for overseeing the construction of Osgoode Station by the South Civil contractor during the night shift. The Field Specialist Osgoode Station – Nights will report to the Osgoode Station Project Manager. Due to the limited DP presence during the night shift, the Field Specialist Osgoode Station – Nights is likely to have increased responsibilities compared to their day shift counterparts.Major Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the Project Company (PCo) works within the station, being the DP representative on site.
  • Maintaining high quality daily records of observations and other information gathered including site personnel, materials, equipment, work completed (installed quantities) and issues arising.
  • Reviewing deliverables and other submittals prepared by PCo related to construction or construction support for the station works. Identifying non-conformances or other items that require addressing to benefit the project. Specific focus on Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Overseeing that the PCo works for the station are in accordance with the contract in terms of health, safety, environment, quality, schedule, and cost performance. Identifying and reporting any non-conformances. Specific focus on witness and hold points identified in ITPs.
  • Reporting progress, identifying risks, highlighting emerging issues and escalating to the Project Manager for the works.
  • Providing input to and participating in plans and actions to address non-conformances, avoid or mitigate risks and mitigate emerging issues.
  • Engaging discipline leads for subject matter expertise in health & safety, environment, quality, contracts, project controls and interfaces, implementing direction provided.
  • Building relationships with the PCo site team.
  • Validating progress reports and other data prepared by the DP and PCo against own observations and records.
  • Providing input to the DP progress reports for the station.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience of working on infrastructure mega-projects, preferably rail projects in urban areas.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previously held construction supervision role(s) with responsibility for construction of infrastructure of similar scope, size and complexity to station works on a metro project.
  • Experience/knowledge in the following is an asset: various methods of Support of Excavation (SOE), deep excavations, Sequential Excavation Methods (SEM), structural and architectural concrete placement
  • Good relationship building and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fluent in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
  • Demonstrated commitment to Zero Accident safety program.
